Chapter 292: Another Brat No One Dared to Provoke [Part 1]
Meeting gift?
Wheeze’s eager expression drew a smile on Cillin’s face. He asked, “What do you want to do?”
A lot of nobles liked to flaunt their elegance, when in reality their shiny exterior was all that kept their filthier-than-public-toilet hearts from being exposed. Those who talked on the channels earlier were one of those people.
That was why Cillin didn’t stop Wheeze from taking revenge against them.
Meanwhile, the people heading towards the wedding were video calling one another like close friends despite not having known the other party until now. Their purpose of doing this was to show off their influence within this circle, and it didn’t take them long to criticize Cillin and his spaceplane for their supposedly poor manpower and gift.
Suddenly, the images on their screen blurred for a second. When it became clear again, these people realized that the other party’s face was replaced by a scenery—at a wide prairie, two elephants were joined together in a primal, instinctual exercise...
Dead silence enveloped the surrounding starships and the spaceplanes for a time. Even Cillin had a hard time controlling his own expression.
“Where on earth did you get these?” Cillin pinched Wheeze’s ear and asked. He never thought that the gray cat was the kind to hoard porn until now.
Wheeze replied proudly, “I got it from King Kong! They didn’t want to show them to me at first!”
“But why elephants instead of apes?”
“That’s no good, King Kong will be embarrassed if I do that.”
Embarrassed? This was but one of the many “diverse” porn of the ape’s stash. He should’ve known that the animals at AF1 were a dishonest bunch.
Meanwhile, the nobles on the affected starships were so angry that their faces were green. Obviously, someone had hacked into their vessel’s network and reception system, but the alarm was completely silent, and no one noticed anything amiss. Normally they would’ve thrown a tantrum already, but they were extremely close to the destination planet and everyone was paying attention to each other. As a result, they could only investigate the anomaly in secret.
There was no way they could tell anyone about this because consider this line: “Hey, did you guys see a pair of elephants too?” It would be like pissing on their own face.
The guard ships had no idea what had happened because Wheeze didn’t attack them, so they carried out their duty as usual. The ceremonial squad was already standing by at the space station.
If the guests wished to park their vessels at the space station, then the receptionists in the ceremonial squad would process the request and prepare a separate spaceplane to deliver them to the planet. If the guests wished to travel to the planet directly, they would send a map with a marked stop to the guest’s system. There were navigators who would guide them to their destination as well.
Not all of the people would be entering the planet. The reason the nobles brought a big group with them was one, to protect themselves in case anything happened and two, to show off their wealth and power and promote themselves.
Naturally, one must verify their identity before entering a planet. A guest who brought a big group with them usually meant that the receptionists wouldn’t inspect them too closely; normally granting them entry after a perfunctory video chat. On the other hand, solo guests like Cillin with no special, obvious identification like the nobles were scrutinized deeper as a matter of fact.
The ceremonial squad sent Cillin a reasonably polite message, informing him to park his spaceplane inside the space station. A professional would be waiting to receive him and inspect his admission and invitation card.
Cillin guided his spaceplane towards the space station after receiving their signal. There was nothing to worry about because he had both the admission card and the invitation card. He might not be a noble, but these people wouldn’t give him trouble.
A tunnel opened to admit Cillin’s spaceplane. When he opened the hatch and got to the bottom, someone was waiting for him already. The greater a noble was, the deeper their grasp was on the concept “etiquette”. They wouldn’t forget to put on a good appearance.
When Cillin had his ID scanned, no noble emblem appeared on the display. However, the receptionists continued to smile politely without any trace of disdain or scorn.
“Hello. Mr. Cillin, is it? I’m glad you’re able to attend this wedding. I am Read, the person in charge responsible for receiving the guests, and I serve the Rolle Family,” An impeccably dressed middle-aged man said as he walked up to Cillin and gave a salute.
The Rolle Family was Ulaganuo cousin’s family and were a member of the upper nobles. Although they were inferior to military titans like the Yurong Family or wealthy giants like the Sizer Family, they did have some influence in the business industry. They dabbled in many areas, and their social network was huge. The Gleason Family wouldn’t have agreed to hold such an extravagant wedding otherwise.
“Hello.” Cillin wasted no time in producing his invitation card and admission card. This man would most likely beat around the bush for a long time if he didn’t take the initiative here.
Read accepted the cards with both hands before putting them in a nearby instrument for verification. When a tiny image appeared on the screen, his smile abruptly grew wider and a lot more sincere.
Read returned the cards to Cillin with both hands again before bowing a little deeper than before. He said, “Thank you for coming!”
Cillin asked if Read needed to check anything else, but the receptionist shook his head with a smile. He then produced a hologram device, switched on the map and explained the flight path Cillin should follow after entering the planet himself.
None of the receptionists working here were normal people. At the very least, Read was a trusted aide of the Rolle Family. A bungled meeting could result in a new enemy against the Rolle Family, and in this post one would inevitably encounter many nobles while working. Someone at this post needed to around the nobles frequently be able to be able to recognize all the nobles who came their way. Therefore, Read wasn’t too important in the Rolle Family, but in no way he was insignificant either.
Cillin was supposed to leave an identity record and undergo a body check after verifying his admission card and identity card. Since most of the people who had to undergo the verification process at the space station weren’t nobles, they weren’t afraid of complaints from these particular guests. But Read had shaken his head decisively when Cillin asked him if there were more checks to follow.
Cillin’s admission card contained an emblem that was a combination of the Rolle Family and the Gleason Family’s emblem. This image would only appear when scanned by a machine. Although a lot of admission cards were distributed during this wedding, and on the surface they all shared the same appearance, the contents of the cards were something else. All the admission cards Ulaganuo possessed were stamped with the special emblem, and all the guests who possessed them must be treated as such.
It was no wonder Read acted the way he did after seeing the emblem. Read himself was surprised that Cillin, a commoner with a fittingly small spaceplane would have an elite level admission card.
Cillin knew immediately that there was something going on from the way Read acted, but he didn’t care to look into such trivial details. After Read told him that he was in the clear, Cillin immediately went back to the spaceplane and departed for the planet.
After Cillin was gone, Read immediately contacted his master, the groom’s father and a core member of the Rolle Family.
After Read had told him about Cillin, the master fell silent for a moment before asking Read to check the spaceplane’s serial number. Read did as told, reported the serial number and some additional data across the call before waiting for further instructions.
“He belongs to...” His master exclaimed in clear surprise.
Some of the serial codes stamped on a spaceplane or a starship weren’t as simple as they seemed, hiding coded information that only those who learned about them understand. And none of the people who had hidden codes stamped on their spaceplane or starships were insignificant in the whole empire.
The master was very satisfied with Read’s performance after hearing about this. It was one of the main reasons he ordered Read to process the guests at the space station.
Back to Cillin. Guided by a navigator, the young man successfully landed his spaceplane at a designated parking lot. It was very close to the main venue of the wedding.
There were colorful and romantic decorations everywhere, and the music was very atmospheric.
Cillin turned down the navigator’s offer for further guidance before contacting Gen Xingming on his communicator.
“You’re here, Cillin?!” On the screen, Gen Xingming could be seen holding a glass of wine doing god knows what. He probably left his original place to find a quieter place to accept Cillin’s call.
Cillin pointed once at his own face before saying, “You sure look like you’re having fun.”
There was a bright lipstick mark on Gen Xingming’s face. It was obvious that it was the work of a young lady.
Gen Xingming chuckled in response before wiping the lipstick mark away. “Hah, it’s nothing new. It’s always the same.”
That was what he said, but it was clear from his sneaky smile that he and his friends were on a high.
“Where are you? We’re at...” Gen Xingming told him their location and sent him a coordinate. The reason he didn’t just retrace the signal and track down Cillin directly was because Cillin’s communicator was made by Guan Feng. Of course it wasn’t an easy task.
“I just arrived. Let me walk around for a bit before I go look for you,” Cillin said.
Right now, Gen Xingming was fooling around with a bunch of young nobles. Although Gen Xingming had slipped away to take Cillin’s call, they were already calling out to him to return quickly.
“Be quick then, Gaga and Bel are here too. Both fun and relationship are something only a crowd can make, you know? Grandpa two tell you socialize more with others, right? I can introduce you to a couple of great guys who knows how to have fun. Of course, I also promise I won’t hoard all the ladies to myself, hehe...”
“Got it. You go have fun with the others, I’ll head over once I’m done looking around.”
“Alright. Be quick, or you won’t get any girls!”
Someone was urging Gen Xingming again, so he cut off the phone and went back to playing after a lewd joke or two.
Cillin looked around him after cutting off the call. This planet was definitely a natural scenic spot. It was clear that the Rolle Family had spent quite a bit of money to preserve the planet’s natural landscape during development.
Occasionally, a flying car or two could be seen soaring across the sky. A lot of young nobles enjoyed carrying their flying cars on their spaceplanes or starships and driving them when they were on a planet. Cillin didn’t bring a flying car, however. He preferred his own custom made hoverboard because it was more convenient and to his liking.
Cillin hopped on his hoverboard and took to the sky while Wheeze grabbed onto his shoulder tightly. He didn’t wear a wind mask. The wind made a mess out of Wheeze’s fur, but the thrill of flying was more than worth the trouble later. Ever since it flew on the back of Mercury, Wheeze often dreamed of growing its own wings and soaring in the sky. It was why it growing more and more fond of flying. It was impossible to enjoy this kind of thrill on a flying car.
“Wait!” Wheeze suddenly tapped Cillin once and shouted.
“What’s wrong?” Cillin asked while slowing down.
“... I smell food...” Wheeze said with a pondering look.
They were close to the main venue to begin with, so self-service food stalls were set up near the area for guests to enjoy. Many people visited them to replenish their stomachs after they were tired.
In the end, not even the dream of flying could beat the temptation of food.
