Chapter 14: An Element Messenger

After Li Xiaonian ran up the hill, he went downhill on the other side.
Down the hill was a small canyon river. Li Xiaonian leaped into it with a ‘plop’, clung to a piece of dead wood, grabbed a handful of water plants as a hat so as not to be spotted by the players, and then drifted down the river.
He opened the information bar.
This time, not only Tianyu, but even Kitten also sent him a message.
Tianyu: “Hey, boy, have you received my messages? Tell me if you did. Hell, you are only a high school graduate? Why didn’t you give me a hint? I thought you were much older than me.”
Tianyu: “Don’t tell me you got caught by the Wolf Walk Guild!”
Tianyu: “Damn, it seems that I lost one more assistant who can fight the Wolf Walk Guild head-on.”
Kitten: “Brat, what the hell happened? What do you mean ‘your identity exposed’? If you don’t make it clear, you must make up for my loss. Bastard, where are you? Why can’t I find you?”
Li Xiaonian was soaking in the water, his face still gloomy. He sent a message to Tianyu, asking, “How did Lang Burang discover my identity?”
Seeing Li Xiaonian’s message, Tianyu smiled. “Phew, you are not dead yet. You’re so lucky.”
“Cut the crap. Tell me how my identity was revealed.”
Li Xiaonian was sure that, except for Kitten, no one knew his real identity in the game.
“Hey, Li Xiaonian, now I know who you really are. Firstly, you’re younger than me; secondly, my family is much more powerful than yours. Shouldn’t you show me some respect? Come on, call me ‘Big Brother’, and then I’ll tell you.”
Li Xiaonian was a little angry. If Tianyu were in front of him now, he would have beaten him up.
It was impossible for him to call him ‘Big Brother’. He actually lived five years longer than Tianyu, so he should be the big brother.
Li Xiaonian replied, “If I am sealed by the Wolf Walk Guild, you’ll never be able to get out of the Skyfire Base. Besides, the task to overturn the Wolf Walk Guild will definitely fail. It’s up to you.”
The Wolf Walk Guild wouldn’t just throw out the powerful props to seal him, but would kill him first, and then seal his corpse so that he would never be able to resurrect from death.
He had a hundred reasons to believe that the sealing prop in Lang Burang’s hand was prepared for Tianyu. He just happened to run into Lang Burang’s muzzle.
“???”
Tianyu sent out a few question marks. “I can tell you, but you have to tell me first, why are you so familiar with me?”
Tianyu was very curious. He could be sure that he and Li Xiaonian didn’t know each other, but after the betting, he inexplicably had a trust for Li Xiaonian. Even now, he still believed that Li Xiaonian had never deceived him.
Li Xiaonian randomly picked a thing he knew about Tianyu and said, “When I first met you three years ago, you happened to save a little girl on the road. I was surprised that a man born with a silver spoon would save people regardless of the risk to your life, which impressed me a lot.”
After reading Li Xiaonian’s reply, Tianyu puffed up with pride. “Haha, so you’re my fan. Why didn’t you tell me earlier? In that case, I can tell you the reason. Your identity was exposed because Lang Burang had a painter by his side. He had your avatar painted and gave the portrait to a detective for investigation. That’s why your identity was exposed.”
Knowing the reason, Li Xiaonian frowned, clenching his fist and thinking to himself, “I did underestimate how cautious a hypocrite can be.”
Hesitating for a moment, Li Xiaonian sent a message to Tianyu. “Go to the grocery store to find the NPC Kuiluo, tell him you’re my buddy. Tell him about my situation and ask him to help me collect some advanced energy. The 10,000 gold coins you transferred to me were given to him. By the way, be careful not to be fooled by this NPC. This old guy is very cunning. If you collect high-level energy, contact me.”
Seeing this message, Tianyu smiled.
Sure enough, Li Xiaonian didn’t deceive him from beginning to end.
…
The other side.
The members of Wolf Walk Guild almost all swarmed out. However, after searching for a long time, they still didn’t find Li Xiaonian.
A ferocious gleam flashed in Lang Burang’s eyes. Pondering for a long while, he said to the crowd with a smile, “Since he is hiding, let’s withdraw first. The most important thing is to do tasks and level up. Of course, if you’ve got time, you can continue to search for him. Anyone discovering June’s trace will be rewarded 10 gold coins, and anyone killing him and bringing his corpse back will get 100 gold coins.”
Hearing that there would be a reward, everyone cheered.
“Long live the Vice-President.”
“Haha, great, by finding June’s trace, I can get 10 gold coins, which is equivalent to 1,000 yuan. We may not be able to kill him, but it’s easy to find his trace.”
“Come on, let’s search separately. Maybe we can get the reward.”
Some players cheered, but some whispered complaints.
“The Vice-President summoned us with such a fanfare. I had thought that everyone would be rewarded, but it turns out that we worked for nothing. I was in the middle of my task when I was called over.”
“The Vice-President is too stingy with us. He easily gave June a gold-level pistol, but barely gave us any reward. Considering our strength, if we want to kill June, we’ll have to take collective action. Otherwise, we will only be killed. 100 gold coins seem to be much, but it’s not a lot of money to spread out over everybody.”
…
Li Xiaonian floated in the river for half an hour, and his body was a little cold.
He raised his head and glanced around, making sure that there were no players or monsters around, and then he climbed onto the shore.
Suddenly, he felt that his right leg was entangled with a tentacle.
Bang bang bang!
He drew the pistol and fired several shots backhand.
When Li Xiaonian saw that it was not a monster but algae that wound his right leg, his face turned black and he cursed. “Damn, I made a mistake.”
The gunfire was loud. In order to avoid being spotted by the players, Li Xiaonian glanced around and ran towards the mountains in front of him.
He had only run a few paces when a burst of laughter came from behind him
“Haha, you’re June, right? I didn’t expect that I had such good luck to find you so soon.”
Li Xiaonian looked back. There was a man with a translucent body standing on the surface of the canyon river.
“A messenger who has elementalized!”
Li Xiaonian’s face changed drastically.
Element messengers were divided into five categories: gold, wood, water, fire, and earth. At the early stage in the game, elementalized element messengers are the hardest enemies to fight because they were almost immune to all physical damages.
To elementalize, an element messenger must reach at least lv4 or higher in skills, and the amount of merit points spent on it would be enough to make a player reach level 20.
This was a novice base. Why did he encounter such a strong enemy? If he had so many merit points, why didn’t he use them to level himself up and go to big cities for development? What kind of a future could he have staying in a novice base forever?
If Li Xiaonian had learned [Lightning Stroke Technique] that happened to be able to restrain this element messenger, he might have a chance to beat him, but now, he was still an lv1 player with only preliminary healing skills, and his only attack means was guns, to which the opponent happened to be immune.
“Brother, can I say that you have got the wrong person?” Li Xiaonian forced a smile.
The man was amused and smiled. “Do you think I’m that stupid? Are you going back with us or do you want me to kill you first and then drag your corpse back?”
“Brother, you are so strong, so you don’t have to obey the Wolf Walk Guild’s order, right? How much will they pay you? I can pay you double.” Li Xiaonian looked at the guy pitifully, and at the same time, he clenched his dagger nervously, thinking about the route to escape.
He must not die or be caught. Otherwise, it was all over.
