261 Getting freaky in the dark tunnels

“Do you know what he said to his spouse once?” asked Yi Chen glancing over at Zi Han who was searching the temple. Zi Han didn’t glance at him but he was listening. Yi Chen moved slightly to his right and tapped his light brain.

A three-dimensional image of a special access card popped up on the floating screen. “He said ‘there is no such thing as the end of life, but, without you, my love, there is no life... I feel the same way about you,” he said and with a high-pitched ding, a secret door on the wall opened revealing a stairway.

Zi Han felt his heart melt like ice under the summer sun. Slowly but surely his words were softening his heart and like a whipped boyfriend he would end up caving in. He might have felt this way but he would never admit it.

His expression remained the same as he walked to the door of the basement but before he could pass through Yi Chen pressed his hand against the door panel blocking his way.

With the tips of their noses almost rubbing against each other Yi Chen said, “Baby, I really mean it. Believe me when I say I am doing this for your own good. There is a real reason why I can’t let you take advantage of Sheba. Will you trust my words and understand my position?” asked Yi Chen but his tone was slightly hesitant.

Zi Han stared at him feeling exasperated. He knew he was putting Yi Chen in a compromising position and he was fully prepared to be rejected when he asked but he had foolishly thought his boyfriend would at least take some time to think about it instead of rejecting him on the spot. So yah, he was being unreasonably mad and should get over it but damnit it annoyed him so much.

“You are right. I am being unreasonable and I shouldn’t be mad at you for doing the right thing,” said Zi Han with his arms folded across his chest.

Hearing this Yi Chen’s entangled heart relaxed a little but he couldn’t help but feel something was wrong. The words were right but the tone was absolutely not right.

His heart sank, even more, when he heard Zi Han’s next words. “I don’t really need your help to do this anyway. I have other means,” he said while shrugging his shoulders. That was indeed the truth it’s just that it would take Zi Han a whole lot longer than if Yi Chen helped him get access to Sheba. With this access, he could get hold of highly classified chat records and call logs narrowing down the suspect pull. Sheba was not only a defense system throughout the Federation. It was also an intricate AI system that infiltrated each household and listened in on everyone.

.....

Yi Chen felt like a heavy boulder was pressing down on his heart when he heard what Zi Han said. He didn’t think it was a good idea to tell Zi Han what he knew but the more they kept butting heads the more anxious he was. He was afraid Zi Han would leave him and his worries were justified. The moment Zi Han goes on a killing spree it would be incredibly difficult to keep him by his side.

That’s because for his own protection Zi Xingxi would force him to join the Bloodgarde and he would never get to see his lover as much anymore. This was the true reason why he wouldn’t let Zi Han anywhere near Shiba. He wanted to delay things as much as possible so he could find the prince and bring him back but Zi Han was losing his patience.

In a moment of panic, he said, “Your father, he-,” but he was interrupted by painful screams bouncing off the underground tunnel walls.

Zi Han bend his head down slightly and went under Yi Chen’s arm that was blocking the door. He drew his laser rifle as he walked down the stairs. Yi Chen rubbed the back of his neck as he followed behind. He just couldn’t wait to finish this mission and go back to the ship so they can talk about it.

Zi Han who was walking in front felt a hot gaze on his butt so he whispered to Yi Chen, “Stop looking at my ass.”

Yi Chen who had only taken a glance was aggrieved. He couldn’t kiss, he couldn’t touch and now he couldn’t even look. What was even worse was that he couldn’t even sleep on the same bed as Zi Han and the entire team knew they fought. He truly wasn’t coping very well and one could understand why.

For months on end, he experienced the joys of marital bliss thus when disaster struck he didn’t know how to deal with it. As they approached the end of the tunnel Zi Han whispered in the communication channel, “Any ideas where we are going?”

Li Ran spun around in his swiveling chair while responding, “Follow the heat source on the thermal imaging oh and um... try to keep your conversations off the team chat because I can hear everything... including the ass remark that was pretty-,” when the communication channel was muted.

Li Ran, “...”

Zi Han turned around and glared at the culprit. “You got to be kidding me,” he exclaimed in disbelief. Now everyone heard their business.

Yi Chen raised his hands in surrender while looking at Zi Han’s communication device which was obviously lit. He knew it wasn’t him who forgot but before he could say it the pot was already thrown over his head.

“It wasn’t me,” explained Yi Chen while pointing at Zi Han’s chest but because it was a little dark he ended up poking Zi Han’s nipple.

Zi Han gasped while covering up his nipples and Yi Chen tried to defend himself but who was he kidding? First the ass now this. No matter how hard he explained it he looked like he was ready to get freaky with Zi Han in the dark tunnels.

“Han Han, I really didn’t me-,” he said only for Zi Han to interrupt him.
