Purple blood splattered over Elena's face as the head of the centipede that was killed by the black millipede went flying through the air. She watched on in shock as more black millipedes came scurrying around the corner, snapping at the centipedes that were at the back of the group with a hunger that could not be quenched.
The centipedes that once hounded her threw her presence to the back of their minds as they turned around to fight back the millipedes. They completely ignored her and focused on fighting back the black millipedes.
"What... Is this?" Elena wiped the purple blood on her cheek as she took in a deep breath. Her chest heaved from exhaustion, but she could not tear her gaze away from the sight of the black millipedes tearing into the centipedes. What struck her the most was the sight of the injured parts of the millipedes bursting into purple flames and then healing in the next second! It was absolutely mind blowing!
Elena was torn between snatching a few easy kills, and running away. She was scared that if she tried attacking the centipedes, then they would turn their attention back to her, and trap her there again.
"I should just run!" She quickly came to a decision and turned to climb over the wall that the black millipede had flown over, but quickly froze up when she saw a white shadow at the top of the wall.
A much larger millipede than the black ones stood at the top of the wall. This one was much different, though. It was pure white, except for the two antennae atop its head that were topped with purple. The white millipede's mandibles clicked together and it turned back to watch the unfolding fight. It was almost as if it was telling Elena to stay and watch.
Gulping, Elena turned around to watch the battle. Even though the black millipedes were much less in number, with their strange rapid regeneration, they were able to keep up with the centipedes, and were slowly witling down their numbers.
Zap!
Elena felt the buzz on her skin before it struck. A bolt of lightning hit the centipedes right in their middle as a dark robed, black skeleton came walking around the corner, from the same direction that the black millipedes had come from. The robed skeleton strode forward with a confident gait, its right hand raised up as two fireballs circled around each other slowly. It's left hand was stretched out, and was crackling with lightning. That had been the source of the earlier lightning bolt.
"There's an undead mage too? I'm screwed!" Elena thought drearily.
.
.
Leon watched from afar as his underlings wiped the floor with the centipedes. He had intentionally chosen to stay behind until they were done with the centipedes, then he would then show himself to maximize the shock and awe effect that he would have on the young lady.
After a couple of minutes more, the last centipede was killed. The dozen black millipedes crawled over the bodies of the centipedes and lined themselves up in front of Elena before stopping. Kaladin followed behind, but stopped just before the bodies of the dead centipedes. He turned to the side and bowed.
Elena was stumped as she watched all this happening. What was going on?
Just then, she watched another figure walk out from behind the corner. It was another black skeleton, but this one looked like more of a ragtag mock up to Elena when compared to the one with the fine black robes. In its hand, it held a sword, and it swaggered toward her in a way that seemed as if it wanted to draw attention to itself.
Indeed, it stole all of Elena's attention, and that was especially so when it stepped on a piece of rubble, and lost its footing, tumbling forward and rolling on the ground...
"Master!" Kaladin quickly stood up straight and went over to help Leon up. Leon ignored his outstretched hand and jumped up to his feet, feeling embarrassed. If it were possible, then his black bones would surely be bright red like a tomato by now. He felt so embarrassed after falling like that, that he could go and hide now!
Nevertheless, Leon stood up straight, abandoning his swaggery walk, and continuing forward. He stopped at the edge of the messy corpses and looked Elena from top to bottom.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" He chose to go the direct path and question her on the most relevant question.
Elena was frozen for a while. She had not expected the undead skeleton to be able to speak, not to mention being civil enough to ask questions.
"Are you going to speak anytime soon?" The skeleton that wielded a sword asked again.
"I-I am Elena!" She snapped out of her daze and said quickly.
"Hmm, Elena. A nice name." The skeleton said, bringing up a bony hand to rub his chin. "What are you doing in this place? This does not look like a place where the living would stay." Leon asked.
"I am on a quest to become an Adult." Elena chose to answer truthfully. If this undead being was being civil, then perhaps she could reason her way out of this situation.
"Become an adult? How old are you?" Leon asked with confusion. He leaned forward to take a look at her face and noticed that she did not look like a child. She had a rather mature look, in fact. Her frame was curvy in the right spots, and her boobs were particularly large. In fact, if Leon had a working nose, he was 90% sure that it would be bleeding profusely right now!
But... That was not the only thing that Leon had noticed.
"Wait a minute. She looks oddly familiar." Leon took a step closer, walking over the corpses, before coming to a stop before Elena.
"What is it?" Elena hastily raised her weapon up.
"Hold on, you just look familiar." Leon's hand darted forward to grab hold of her chin. With his strength, holding her face in place was not a difficult thing. After a few more seconds of observation, he finally found out why she looked so familiar!
