Leon held out his hand and a translucent blue bird landed on his forearm.
Caw!
The bird cried out once and vanished, leaving the letter that it had carried with it in Leon's hand.
"A letter from the Elves again?" Leon raised a brow and opened the letter. He had been sitting atop the roof of his mansion when he felt the bird lingering at the edge of the barrier of the city.
They were planning to leave Fort Bender today when the dey was well underway. He had already gotten what he needed from Gustavo and had installed the defensive treasures in the heart of the city.
"Greetings, Your Excellency, Leon." The same female Elf from the first letter appeared again with a respectful bow of her projected head.
"I have received your reply and I am glad you have accepted our vague offer to travel to Rivera. Truly, I appreciate it. However, my informants tell me that you are traveling with a floating city? I am afraid that such a city is too... eye catching for the... operation that we are going to undertake, should you join us. I will have to trouble you and ask that you do not come with your floating city. Do not worry, I will give you a substitute that should help replicate the effect of your city, should you agree to my offer when you get here."
"Aside that, I will also have to bother you with this question. How long will it take you to arrive here? Knowing the rough estimate of your arrival will be vital to our plans. Please, I hope I do not offend you by my demands and questions. I hope to hear from you soon."
With that, the message came to an end and Leon picked up the piece of paper inside the envelope. The Dark Pill was already resting between his fingers and he quickly began to scribble a reply.
'Their informants? Hmm, spies. Maybe some people in my city, or from Fort Bender... I will have to deal with this matter later...' Leon thought to himself as he wrote.
As for how long it would take, when he was traveling with the floating city, it would take him about two or so weeks at top speed. And even then, he was not sure, as he had not personally traveled across the continent. But if he and his summons were to travel by themselves, then it would take much less time. Maybe a few days?
In the end, he decided to say that he would be there in a week's time. He would need to send Fort White back to the Desolate Lands.
Leon sat back and breathed in deeply. While he had been with Gustavo, he had done a bit of asking around concerning the state of affairs of Rivera. Gustavo had shared all he knew, including some confidential information, after Leon had paid a pretty penny.
Rivera was currently in a tense standoff against the Dura Kingdom. They had been battling with internal issues for the past century or so as things became heated. These issues were in regards to matters of blood purity and discrimination of Elves with impure blood.
To say that Leon was not surprised would sound insensitive. He had been taken aback at how bad the situation was, but he was not surprised that the Elves were fighting against each other like this because of matters like purity of their blood. He had come to learn that Elves and Vampires, among some other races, held the purity of their blood to the highest standards.
Elves with the purest and most powerful bloodlines were regarded as High Elves in elven society. They were usually nobles and occupied high posts throughout the elven society. Those with more muddles and impure blood were regarded as elves with lower standards. Half breeds got borderline slave treatment.
'With the way she speaks, it might be possible that she is either supporting the elves with lower status, or she is speaking on behalf of her father, the Elven Emperor.'
Naturally, Leon recognized the princess' face after a bit of digging. He had not seen her before, but when he saw the pictures and portraits of her as he was searching for information with Gustavo, he naturally made the connection. Although he had yet to tell anyone about it.
Leon thought about it for a bit more before shrugging. He did not have anything to worry about. Very few people could stand against him in this world. Even if they tried something on him, he was not alone. His summons were also very powerful in their own right.
"I guess I'll have to do without the city. Pity, I was planning on flexing it a bit." Leon sighed and tucked the letter back into the envelope. Like before, a magical bird appeared at took it away. This time, though, Leon latched James, the assassin that had now reached A rank, to the bird, hiding him away in its shadow so he could spy on where the bird would go.
"Alright, I'll send the city back to the Desolate Lands first before heading out." He got up and turned around. He reached out to Rakon and relayed the news to him.
.
.
An hour later, Leon, along with his elite summons, Axel, and the A rank millipedes, that now went by Zain, left Fort White, which had started to return to the Desolate Lands under the control of Rakon. It would be protected by the other A rank summons that he had left behind in his absence.
The wind whizzed in Leon's ears as he sped forward. He had told Vera in his letter that it would take a week to get there, but he could condense that time to just a couple of days or even less if he moved at full speed.
He planned to stick with the timeframe he had given though. The reason being that he intended to use this opportunity to do a little sight seeing as he flew over the continent. He would stop at the residence of Jet's family, pay a visit to Leonidas in the Gublin Empire, and then make a short stop in the Dura Kingdom.
