When the magic airships that carried Leon's army arrived at the outskirts of Fort White, they were received with much fanfare. Most of the common people that had chosen to settle within the transformed Desolate Lands had come to admire the strength of Leon and his summons. Witnessing such a blatant show of strength and power by displaying the magic airships was something that thrilled them.
Thunk!
Already, several docks had been built in advance for the airships. They could not run forever, or they would be burning valuable magic crystals.
Slowly, they powered down and their cores cooled down. The gangways of the ships were let down and the people on board got down one by one. They could have easily just jumped down, but there was no harm in putting on a show for the ordinary people that were watching them.
Standing some distance away, Leon's Divine Incarnation waited, alongside Nedra and a few other important people.
Thud!
The thousands of undead soldiers went down on their knees at once.
"We have returned, Master!" Kaladin announced.
"Welcome back." Leon nodded with a nod. He had come in his skeleton form, as that was how the ordinary people knew him. This way, it would be more impactful for them and would prevent them from growing too distant from their ruler.
.
.
As the matters of the mortal realm carried on as usual, even with the return of Kaladin and the others, Leon poured most of his focus into building his foundation within the celestial realm. The first step to setting up a strong foundation was to build a God Kingdom that would serve as his base within the celestial realm. To do that, he needed a lot of unique and special materials.
ραΠdαsΝοvel.cοm The special resources provided by the Gods that had come to congratulate Leon were among the most important, but they did not bring everything he needed. He still had to go out to hunt for those materials.
And that was exactly what he was doing as he touched down on the massive floating island that he had been directed to by Michael. A dense forest that his senses could not pierce covered the entire forest. This feeling of having something so mysterious in front of him invoked a series of emotions in his heart.
"In the mortal realm, I am already all powerful. But here, I've become small fry again." He sighed and shook his head.
While this statement was not entirely true, as his strength was far above that of a newly ascended God thanks to Atrox's Divine Spark, Leon did not care. Compared to other Gods who had to work their way to reach his current realm, he had very little experience in controlling Divine Power when compared to their many centuries and millennia of experience.
As experience was what he needed the most right now, Leon saw the upcoming exercise as something he had to do himself.
Right now, he had come to harvest as many Divine Fragments from the celestial beasts that inhabited this island. Divine Fragments were just as they sounded, a fragment of a true Divine Spark. All celestial beasts were born with Divine Fragments, but only an incredibly marginal number of them were ever able to complete that Fragment and turn it into a Spark. A Fragment could be completed and made whole by consuming other Fragments.
However, this feat was not as easy as it sounded. A celestial beast had to seek out other celestial beasts of whatever element it was attuned to, defeat it and consume its Fragment, and then go into a long hibernation in order to assimilate the captured Fragment into its own. It was a long and cumbersome process that few had ever completed in Datar's Celestial Realm.
Leon needed the Divine Fragments in order to complete his first goal as a newly ascended God. Not only were Divine Fragments important for the creation of his God Kingdom, but he also needed them in order to forge Divine Gear that would serve as his equipment in the future.
Leon had already left behind the Dark Abyss Set. It could no longer keep up with his needs. Right now, he was better off fighting with pure magic and his bare fists!
"Let's get this show on the road." He hummed to himself and made his way into the forest.
The atmosphere in the Celestial Realm was much different from in the Mortal Realm. In the Mortal Realm, he could feel how powerful he was and how much of a gap existed between himself and the mortals that surrounded him. However, here he felt like he was a simpleton once again. He had to be careful in what he did, as a wrong move could end up badly for him. It was a refreshing feeling.
Leon walked through the forest and eventually came upon a cliff. He peered down the cliff and found a group of strange creatures feeding on a patch of glowing blue grass. He had no idea what they were or what they could do, but the threat he felt from them was negligible, even as they were in a group. They looked like a mix between a deer and a chicken, with hind legs that had hooves. However, their forelimbs were short and had sparse green feathers scattered on them. Their heads were like a deer's and had two short green horns sprouting from their heads.
'This energy, they are attuned towards the element of earth... mixed with plants?' Leon thought to himself as he observed them. Then his gaze shifted to a distant ledge that was opposite of him, but place much lower. A black, cat-like creature with five tails silently stared at the group of grass-eating creatures. Its tails swayed back and forth gently as it bided its time to pounce.
'The element of darkness.' Leon hummed to himself and felt excitement rise in his core. The threat level of the feline creature was considerably higher and made Leon feel an itch to fight.
As Leon focused his attention on the feline creature, its ears twitched and it looked up cautiously. It had briefly sensed the attention of a strong foe on itself but that presence was gone.
Leon's flames burned brighter in his skull as he felt happy that it had sensed him. The stronger the creature, the more developed its Divine Fragment would be, which would ultimately be better for him!
Time passed by slowly and the bright sky slowly darkened. Even the Celestial Realm had a time of rest. However, the time of rest was different for some beings. One such being was the feline creature that Leon had set his sights on. As a creature with an affinity for darkness, the night was its playground.
Rustle...
The group of creatures had left the area where they grazed and entered a cave to rest for the night. It was not far from the grazing spot, so the feline followed them slowly and carefully while also being followed slowly and carefully by Leon.
The creature slipped into the cave where its prey rested. Divine Power bloomed around its frame as it walked, causing it to vanish from sight. As Leon's sight had basically turned useless, he was forced to use more active means to seek out the presence of his prey. His vision glowed and a faint, but unstable outline of the feline creature came into view. He was not able to get a completely clear vision, but this was enough. If he tried any harder, then he might reveal his presence.
The feline creature stalked up to the grass eaters and circled around them, laying a sort of black circle around them. Only then did it finally pounce on one of them.
"Graa!" A growl left its throat as it snagged one of the herbivores by the throat and ripped its head off. It went for the kill in one fell swoop!
Without wasting any time, it pounced onto the next one. The herbivores were only six in number, and one was already dead.
"SQUACK!?" A larger creature in the group dashed forward to meet their hunter head on while the others tried to run away, but failed by bumping into a glowing barrier that was made up of black light. The barrier originated from the black lines that the feline creature had laid down earlier.
As the larger herbivore and the feline hunter faced each other, Leon watched on with piqued interest. This was a prime opportunity to see what abilities his prey held before he faced it.
