Kevin was expecting Kris, but it was Luke White who suddenly appeared before his eyes. He couldn't help but feel confused and disappointed.
"What are you doing here, Luke?" The black-haired scientist asked his colleague.
"Huh?" The green-eyed man blinked at him innocently. "I come to pick you up. Didn't I call you before?"
The pair of blue eyes widened in surprise. His hand immediately fished out his phone from the pants pocket, and his eyes scanned the call history on the screen.
"You didn't call me," Kevin stated as he looked up at the grey-haired man again.
The next thing he heard from the man was a chuckle. "I'm just kidding," he stated in between his chuckle. "I left my wallet in my room, so I come back for it. Why are you so serious? Are you waiting for someone to pick you up?"
Instead of answering Luke's question, Kevin brought his eyes to scan the silver car. "Is it your car?" He asked while looking back at Luke again.
"This car?" The green eyes' owner asked back while using his hand to pat the car door. He could see Kevin nod his head, so he continued, "Yes, it's my car. My father bought me this car yesterday."
Kevin nodded his head in understanding. The car was identical to his, so he mistook the car for his earlier.
'But, wait. Didn't he say that his father just bought his car for him yesterday?'
Kevin just realized that something was fishy, and he squinted his blue eyes at the green ones. "You said that your father just bought you this car yesterday, right? Did you deliberately choose the same car like mine?" He noticed the oddity, so he questioned the other man.
"What?" Luke asked him back instead of answering. "I don't even know that you use the same car, so how could I choose the same car like yours?"
Kevin just rolled his eyes. His colleague was unpredictable.
"Maybe it's just a destiny that we own similar cars now."
Another nonsense came from the green-eyed colleague, and Kevin was just about to rebuke when he and the green eyes' owner flinched as they heard the loud honk coming from behind Luke's silver car. Both of them turned their heads and found another silver car stopped right behind Luke's silver car.
This time, Kevin glanced at the license number, and he immediately smiled brightly.
Without a slight of doubt, he immediately ran toward the car and stopped at the car's front door. He raised his hand and used his knuckles to knock on the car window.
Not long after, the driver rolled down the window, and Kevin was greeted by blonde hair.
"Jack?" Once again, Kevin was surprised. The one who just appeared in front of him was Jack, not Kris.
Jack simply grinned at him without uttering any words.
"I'm here." Another familiar voice greeted his sense of hearing, and he turned his head to the back seat of the car.
"Kris!" He exclaimed happily when his eyes found Kris's head poking from the back seat window.
Kevin immediately moved aside to the back seat window. "Why are you sitting in the back seat, Kris? I thought you were the one who drove the car. Oh, wait! I think I saw someone sitting at the front passenger seat earlier. Who is he?"
The scientist rambled excitedly in front of Kris, but the latter ignored his cheerful attitude.
"Whose car is that?" Instead of answering Kevin's question, Kris asked another question to his lover as his hooded eyes stared sharply at the silver car in front of Kevin's car.
The black-haired man was a little nervous now. He knew that Kris was often jealous of Luke, and the latter probably got even more jealous knowing that he was chatting with the gray-haired guy just now.
But he couldn't seem to hide the fact that the car belonged to Luke. The owner of the car also poked his head towards Kevin's car so that Kris could see the man's face now.
"Hey, Kevin!" Luke suddenly called out to him from his car. "Don't you want to introduce your friend to me formally? I remember you didn't introduce us formally the last time we met!"
Kevin gritted his teeth as he glared at Luke. 'Why does this ice prince suddenly become so noisy?'
Kevin wanted to hit Luke so badly. His colleague just made the situation get worse now. He was about to say something to Kris but had to hold back when he heard Kris's voice all of a sudden.
"I'm Kris!" The tan-skinned man shouted at the green-eyed man. "And I'm not Kevin's friend, but I'm his husband!"
What Kris just said was completely unpredictable for Kevin, and his cerulean eyes widened as he stared at Kris in horror.
"Kris, what did you just―"
"It's nice to meet you, Kris! I'm Luke, and I'm Kevin's lunch buddy!"
Kevin was speechless when Luke suddenly cut his speech mercilessly. He stiffly turned his head to the man, but his dismay, Luke suddenly rolled up the car window before starting to drive his car to leave the laboratory building.
'Didn't Luke say that he left his wallet in the laboratory? How come he just left like that instead of picking up his wallet?'
Kevin was puzzled inwardly, but it wasn't too long because Kris's voice broke his reverie the next second.
"Just get into the car real quick, Kevin Beischel."
Kris's tone sounded flat and dark, and Kevin gulped his saliva nervously. Without waiting to be ordered twice, Kevin immediately got into the car and sat right beside Kris. But, to his dismay, Kris moved away from him so that they were apart thirty centimeters away from each other now.
There was tension in the car, but Jack ignored it as he started the car engine and continued their journey again.
Kevin pursed his lips when he saw Kris's attitude, but then he noticed someone else in the car.
"Eh? Aren't you the young soldier who escorted us home after the war ended?" Kevin asked the man who was sitting at the front passenger seat.
The bald man, Casper Owsinski, turned his head to him while grinning happily. "You still remember me, Sir?"
Kevin returned the smile before he answered, "I remember your face, but I don't remember your name. I'm sorry."
Casper smiled in understanding as he replied, "I'm Casper, Sir. It's nice to meet you again."
"Just call me Kevin. I'm not that old, you know?" Kevin responded while laughing lightly. "But, how come you are in this car with Kris and Jack now?"
Casper was about to answer, but then he locked his lips tightly when he noticed Kris glaring at him dangerously.
"I'm sorry, Kevin. But I think you should talk with Mr. Allaband first. I can answer you after you two finish talking."
The young soldier quickly turned his head to the front and left Kevin, who was so stiff in the back seat now.
The scientist reluctantly turned his head to Kris, and he gave the latter an awkward smile. "What's the matter, Kris? Do you want to say something to me?"
Kris tried to hold back his anger as he glowered at his lover. "Aren't you the one who has something to tell me?"
Kevin looked like a criminal who was being interrogated by the police, but what did he do to make his lover suddenly act cruelly like this?
Kevin was not dumb. He knew exactly why his lover suddenly got angry at him, but did he deserve the cold treatment?
"I'm sorry for not telling you that I have become Luke's lunch buddy for a while," the scientist apologized silently as he stared at Kris with his adorable puppy eyes.
Unfortunately, the puppy eyes seemed not to work on Kris today. "You have become his lunch buddy for a while, but you have never told me about that?"
The puppy eyes had gone as Kevin lowered his head timidly. "I don't mean to lie," he replied in a weak tone. "I know that you don't like Luke, so I don't want to make you feel worse by telling you about that. Moreover, the 'lunch buddy' stuff is just a deal between us. It means nothing to me."
"What kind of deal that requires you to be his lunch buddy? We should just call it a lunch date!"
Kevin looked up at his lover again upon hearing his lover's harsh tone. "It's not a date!" He bravely argued. "Luke agreed to give me the information about Senior Felix, but in return, I have to accompany him every lunch break for a month. It's for the sake of our mission, Kris!"
Kris looked a little surprised after hearing his lover's explanation. "Is that information worth the sacrifice, Kev? I still can't imagine you being his lunch date!"
Kevin was on the verge of exploding. His lover was beyond stubborn, and he could take it anymore!
"Fine," he whispered dangerously, glaring at his lover. "I did have a lunch date with Luke, and maybe tomorrow I will be his boyfriend! Let's break up, Kris!"
