"He was someone from the Military."
Kris furrowed his brows upon hearing Steve's answer. "He was someone from the Military? But I thought he was in the Intelligence Agency now."
Kris didn't mean to have a friendly discussion with someone who had betrayed his trust, but he chose to remain calm as he would try to dig more information from the cunning man.
They were still talking about Jaden Dunn, and as far as he remembered, Luke once said that Jaden Dunn was someone who worked for the Intelligence Agency.
"Ah, you are right, Sir," Steve replied as he nodded his head. "Mr. Dunn is indeed in the Intelligence Agency now, but he was in the Military a year ago. He's always so stiff and strict, and I see him more as a soldier instead of a regular office worker."
Kris didn't immediately respond even after Steve gave him a further explanation. It seemed he realized that the matter related to Jaden Dunn was not simple. That man was currently working for the Intelligence Agency, but he was a soldier until a year ago.
He remembered how Kevin kept accusing Grace Hasler because Jaden Dunn was currently the medusa lady's right hand, but it turned out that Jaden Dunn came from Military background.
'Jaden Dunn was from the Military, Kev. What will you do if you find out the truth?' He questioned in his heart as if his fiance was there to listen to his question.
Kevin was not there with him, and Kris felt he was lost. He and Kevin were always together during last year's war, and that was why he could remain sane and didn't go crazy when he faced a difficult situation.
Now that he was alone without his soulmate, Kris felt like half of his soul went missing.
"So, Jaden Dunn is your boss all along? He was the one who was working with Professor Joseph Beischel all these years?" Kris finally found his voice again and immediately questioned the other man.
He observed Steve's expression carefully, but the man's expression remained the same. He knew that his guards tended to be expressionless because their job required a lot of focus. That was why all his guards had the same expressionless expression when they worked for him.
Today he could see Steve laugh and smirk, but just like it was the latter's nature, he would go back to his stoic face eventually.
"Mr. Dunn is indeed one of my bosses, but he's not my big boss. I think I need to warn you that you're indeed in danger, Sir. My big boss is the most heartless person I've ever met."
Kris's gaze on Steve was full of skepticism. He didn't need the warning at all. Even the person in front of him was heartless, so what could he hope from someone in a higher position than the evil guard?
Steve acted like he still cared about Kris, but Kris wouldn't believe in that act anymore. He knew that Steve just wanted to kill him for what he called 'revenge.'
That was still a ridiculous excuse for him. Probably the guard was just too greedy for money.
"Who is your big boss? Is it Felix Smith?" Kris questioned the man again, causing the man to display an expression full of shock.
"Felix Smith? Who is Felix Smith?" Steve asked him back while wearing a confused look on his face, causing Kris to furrow his brows.
'He doesn't know Felix Smith? Is he telling the truth? Then, Felix Smith is not a part of the criminals? But he has a secret communication with Jaden Dunn, so he must be taking a part somewhere, right?'
Kris was puzzled, but he tried to read Steve's expression. The man indeed managed to lie to him all along, so he wouldn't easily believe in what the man said. However, he didn't think the man was lying right now.
"You really don't know who Felix Smith is? Jaden Dunn didn't tell you anything about him?" Kris questioned the man again, but the said man's frown got deeper upon hearing his question.
"I've never heard that name before," Steve replied. "I have to let you know that there are several people who are working with Mr. Dunn now, and I don't know all of them. Felix Smith or something probably is one of them, but maybe he isn't. There are two possibilities."
Perhaps Steve indeed knew nothing about Felix Smith, and Kris decided not to prolong the matter.
"Several people are working with Jaden Dunn now, including those people inside the glass tubes?" Kris asked another question as he pointed in a direction with his chin.
Steve turned his head to follow the direction, but his expression remained flat. "Oh, they are not working with Mr. Dunn. They are just our specimens."
Hearing the word 'specimen,' Kris froze immediately. "Are you kidnapping innocent people to test your formula? You want to create new werewolves to attack humans?"
Kris was not stupid and could immediately analyze the situation. Those inside the glass tube was indeed werewolves, and those bad people probably would plan to attack human again using those werewolves.
But, who was the person behind it all? Who would be able to create the new werewolves?
"They are not innocent people, but they are just useless people. Some of them are the thugs from Rodein, and some of them are the lowly soldiers in the Military."
Steve's answer stunned Kris. Some of them were thugs from Rodein? He remembered the bartender told him and Kevin about the thugs that no longer caused troubles in Rodein after the war ended. They thought that the thugs were just afraid of werewolves so that they stopped doing bad things, but it turned out that they were kidnapped by the real criminals.
However, Kris's focus was not only on the thugs, but it was on the soldiers as well. Those soldiers probably were the ones Casper talking about.
"So, it's indeed the people from the Military's doing?"
