Steve indeed knew nothing about those cunning people's plan, and he widened his eyes in surprise upon hearing his words.
"They told me that they would only ask Mr. Kris to activate the small robot, Sir. They didn't say that they had other plans related to Mr. Kris."
Steve was indeed only a puppet in those criminals' eyes, and they didn't even let the young man know their real plan related to Kris.
Steve was just a puppet, and the string attached to his body was held by those evil people. He would only move if those people wanted him to move, but he didn't know the reason behind the motion.
"If they told you that they would kill Kris, would you still follow their order to kidnap Kris, Steve?"
Kevin no longer had any hope for Steve's loyalty to Kris, but he still asked that question just to make Steve feel uneasy.
If Steve still had a tiny heart behind his ribs, then he surely would feel a slight of guilt. But if his heart had completely been destroyed by money, then the purple-haired guy surely wouldn't feel anything even after knowing the truth.
"I... I will try to save Mr. Kris, Sir."
Steve didn't directly answer his question, but the words that escaped his lips quite stunned Kevin.
"You sold someone who trusted you wholeheartedly, but now you want to save him? What kind of bullshit is that?" Kevin was being harsh again, and Steve could only shut his mouth and didn't respond to the scientist's harsh treatment toward him.
Kevin was not stupid, and he wouldn't easily believe in Steve's bullshit. Now the man looked like someone who finally relented and wanted to go back to the right path, but Kevin wouldn't easily give the man a second chance.
Kevin wouldn't believe in someone who had hurt his lover's heart. He wouldn't let his heart waver.
Both of them remained quiet, but then the tense atmosphere was broken by the sound of the doorbell. The young scientist frowned when he heard the sudden sound, but his expression remained relaxed as he got up from the seat and headed to the front door.
Unlocking the door with the key, he then pushed the door open, immediately greeted by the figure of Jack and Blue who were staring at him grimly.
"Where's that man?" Blue was the one who directly questioned the raven-haired scientist.
Kevin had told both Blue and Jack that he managed to capture Steve. He didn't tell them the details, but both of them rushed to his house upon getting the information.
Blue's face was painted with anger, and Kevin could understand why the girl displayed that kind of expression. After all, Blue's uncle was being kidnapped by someone they trusted, so they all felt betrayed.
"He's inside."
Upon hearing Kevin's answer, Blue immediately dashed to enter the house, and the next sound that could be heard by Kevin's ears was a hard slap. It was not hard to guess that Blue had slapped Steve right on the face.
Blue was Kris's niece, and she had been worrying about her uncle a lot. That was why she was so enraged when she finally met the man who kidnapped her dear uncle.
Kevin didn't intend to stop the girl, though. He remained calm and was about to turn around, but Jack's voice halted his steps.
"You owe us an explanation, Kevin."
Kevin flashed a small smile at the blonde but didn't utter any words. He just moved his legs again and immediately headed to the living room. Jack could only follow the fair-skinned man while grumbling softly.
There were lots of things that bothered Jack's mind, but he tried to be patient and followed the owner of the house instead.
And there, in the living room, Blue was standing in front of Steve with her face painted with a red hue due to her anger.
"You dare to deceive my uncle who has been trusting you all this time, hah? Where did you bring my uncle?"
Kevin just stayed at the side as he observed how Blue interrogated the cunning man. Jack was standing next to him, and he gave Kevin a puzzled look. "You have found that man, but you have not interrogated him yet? You don't want to know where that man took your boyfriend?"
It was indeed weird in Jack's eyes. This morning, Kevin suddenly called him to inform him that he had successfully arrested Steve and was about to interrogate the evil guards today. From Kevin's voice, he could tell that Kevin was so calm and not in a hurry at all.
That was different from what Kevin displayed a few days ago when Kris just went missing. Kevin was panicked and kept telling them that they had to find Kris soon, but now the young scientist looked so calm. Strangely too calm to be precise.
That was why he chose to interrogate Kevin and let Blue 'punish' the purple-haired man.
"I will let you two interrogate him," the raven-haired man simply answered.
Jack couldn't help but raise an eyebrow upon hearing the man's answer. "You are too calm, Kevin. And I think you are hiding something from me," he commented. "Steve is in your hands now, and he surely knows where your boyfriend is right now. You don't want to force him to tell you where Kris is right now? You don't want to save your boyfriend as soon as possible?"
Kevin was beyond weird, and Jack was beyond puzzled. Was he too stupid, or was Kevin too cunning here?
Hearing jack's question, Kevin's expression suddenly turned grim. He kept hearing his fiance's name since last night, and it offended him when Jack suddenly questioned his intention to save Kris.
With his face still plastered with a dark expression, Kevin answered Jack's question, "I will save Kris, but I don't need Steve to tell me the location of Kris because I've known his location."
