On a cloudy afternoon, in a modern apartment unit in the middle of the city. The quite spacious and classy place was dominated by dark brown and white colors. The floor was shiny marble, the walls were painted white, and the furniture was dominated by dark brown. Sofas, dining tables, chairs, cupboards, and various other furniture had a dominant dark brown color.
A young man and an aged lady sat opposite each other in the living room. The two of them sat on two dark brown leather sofas. Two teacups were placed on top of a wooden table in front of them. The tea smoke was still steaming, a sign that the drink had recently been brewed using hot water.
"So, how are you doing, Kris?" The lady asked a handsome young man who sat across from her. The handsome young man was Kris.
Again, time was running very fast, forcing the inhabitants of the Earth to accelerate their steps if they didn't want to be left behind by time. Seconds changed to minutes, minutes to hours, hours to days, and days to weeks. One week had passed since the incident when Kevin's mysterious power appeared.
One week ago, Kevin and Kris were involved in a very serious conversation. It was not clear whether it could be called a conversation or an interrogation. Kris was questioned all over by the scientist, and he couldn't help but reveal some of the secrets he had been keeping tightly.
"I am doing well. How about you?" Kris asked back after he briefly answered the grey-haired lady in front of him.
The lady stretched out her hand to grab the teacup in front of her. She blew it for a while, then took an elegant sip of the drink.
Her wrinkled hands put the cup back on the table as she answered, "I'm a little bored because I've been cooped up in this place for a week. And of course, I still have to stay here for at least the next two weeks, right?"
Kris smiled knowingly at the question. "You should be here for a while. I told Kevin you're out of town at the moment. He's so eager to ask you about his mysterious power."
The old lady in front of him gave a small nod. "How is Kevin now? Is he still in shock because of his power?" She asked afterward.
Before answering that question, Kris sighed. "He's still a little angry with me because I didn't answer his last question a week ago. He kept insisting, but I still didn't give him an answer," he answered with a sad smile.
"That kid has always been stubborn," the grey-haired lady replied amusedly. "But, your relationship with him is still fine, isn't it? He didn't end his relationship with you because of that, did he?"
Kris's handsome face flushed slightly at the lady's question. Ah, the lady had known about his relationship with Kevin. Actually, he was a little fearful when he told her everything last week, but it turned out that the lady welcomed him with open arms, saying that she would always support his relationship with Kevin.
Couldn't imagine how delighted Kris was when he heard those words. At least, the lady had blessed their relationship.
"Even if Kevin feels annoyed with you, you certainly won't just give up, right? You've been waiting for Kevin for seventeen years. During that period, you could only look at him from afar. Now that you finally won his heart, you certainly won't back off just because he is annoyed with you, right?"
The lady asked again, and it made Kris widen his eyes. "Of course, I won't just back off!" He quickly answered. "He didn't remember me at all and wasn't really welcoming me at first. With great effort, I made him fall in love with me, so there's no way I can just let him go."
The lady grinned at how Kris complained about his struggles all this time. "He didn't remember you, and that's why you gave him a pair of goldfish on his seventeenth birthday. At that time, you should have given them to him yourself so you don't have to wait for the next ten years to get back to his side," said the lady.
Kris sighed again. "We had to stick to our plans, so I couldn't do that even if I wanted to," he replied gloomily. "It's no use giving him a gift of a pair of goldfish on his birthday, anyway. That idiot didn't even know that goldfish are often interpreted as forgetful animal and I used it to insult him who easily forgot me."
The lady just smiled at how Kris lamented. Her smile was so sincere that it made the wrinkles on her wrinkled face even more obvious. The elderly lady seemed to be reminiscing about past events that she might currently be missing.
"But ..." Kris spoke up again, making the lady refocus on the handsome young man in front of her. "Are you sure you will reveal your identity to Kevin right on Blue's birthday? Kevin was really annoyed that I didn't give him an answer to his question about it. He's so curious about you."
The lady's sincere smile faded after she heard Kris's question. She lowered her head. Her eyes seemed to be looking at the teacup in front of her, but her mind was wandering.
Sighed for a moment, the lady then answered softly, "I have to tell Kevin even though I know that he will hate me afterward. I can't lie to him forever."
Kris silently watched how sad the lady was. The lady had kept a lot of secrets for the past seventeen years, and it didn't look like she would be able to keep them any longer.
"About Kevin's power," Kris broke the silence again, trying to make the lady forget her sorrow for a moment. "It will not harm him, right? His power emerged several times even though it's not as strong as what happened a week ago. Kevin's body often feels icy cold, and I have to use my power to neutralize his body temperature. He becomes more and more curious about his power."
"You don't need to worry," the lady replied calmly. "The power won't hurt him. I'm sure he will be able to control it over time. Didn't you teach him how to control it?"
Kris nodded. "I told him to stay calm to be able to control his power. Besides, I also asked him not to reject the power because refusal would only make it more difficult to control. I'm sure Kevin is smart enough to be able to do that," replied the werewolf.
It was the lady's turn to nod after hearing Kris's answer. "For now, don't tell Kevin anything about his power. I also only told you about his type of power after it started to emerge, right?" Asked the woman.
"Yes. Seventeen years ago, you only told me that Kevin would get power this year, but you didn't tell me what kind of power he would have. You can't imagine how shocked I was when suddenly Kevin's body was able to heal itself when he had a bad accident a few weeks ago."
The lady laughed at how Kris protested again. She still remembered when Kris called her a few weeks ago. He informed her about Kevin's car accident.
At that moment, she casually asked Kris to stay calm and said that Kevin would be fine. Kris was certainly confused about why the lady could stay calm when Kevin was in a critical period. It was only after Kris found out that Kevin's body was strangely able to heal his own wounds that he could guess the reason why the lady was able to stay calm.
At that time, Kris was smart enough to immediately get Kevin out of the hospital after discovering something strange in his body. After he managed to bring Kevin home, he contacted the lady to ask about the oddities in Kevin's body. The lady nonchalantly replied that Kevin's ability to be able to heal his own wounds quickly was one of the powers possessed by the scientist.
"This whole thing is not funny anymore." Kris shook his head without intending to join the laugh. "Are you sure we don't need to find Blue? I'm very worried about her safety. Even if she won't join the werewolf, how can she come back to us safely? The werewolves will definitely kill her."
It was apparent that Kris looked panicked and worried, but the feeling didn't rub off on the lady. She was still calm when she said, "Blue's power will save her. You may not know, but her power is more powerful than you think."
Kris looked at the lady with a look full of question marks. The grey-haired lady in front of him was indeed difficult to read. It had been seventeen years since he had been a loyal 'follower' of her, but she still liked to make him curious. Her nature reminded him of someone.
"You better go back to Kevin's house now, Kris," the lady spoke again. "Your priority now is to take good care of Kevin. Didn't you say Jack saw Kevin's power a week ago? You have to take good care of Kevin, lest he also falls into their hands. Do you understand, Kris?"
Kris gravely listened to the senior's directions, then replied, "I understand, Professor Beischel."
