["What did Professor just say? This baby was created by whom?" A little boy asked a middle-aged lady who was holding a tiny black-haired baby.
The brownish eyes of the caramel-haired boy continued to pay attention to how the baby innocently blinked her blue eyes at the lady as if she was staring at the lady's face. The baby's eyes probably were not clear enough to see the lady's face since she was only born a few hours ago.
"Your question is a bit wrong, Kris. You shouldn't have asked this baby was created by whom. You should have asked the power of this baby was created by whom," the middle-aged lady corrected the boy's question, who was only 10 years old. The lady then continued, "I created this baby's power, Kris."]
Memories of his conversation with the certain lady seventeen years ago suddenly burst into Kris's mind. The burly man had wanted to knock on Kevin's door, but he failed for a moment as the memory suddenly resurfaced.
It was almost midnight. Soon the time would come. Blue and Kevin must prepare for this long-awaited time. That was the reason why the caramel-haired man wanted to knock on the door of Kevin's room.
Kris and Kevin's relationship was fine until now, but the latter was still a little annoyed with Kris. That was why the young scientist didn't allow Kris to sleep in the same room with him.
After sighing to calm himself down, Kris raised his right hand and knocked on Kevin's door. "Are you sleeping, Kev?" He asked softly because he was afraid that his voice would shock his lover.
There was no answer from inside Kevin's room. Kris was ready to open the door, but suddenly the wooden door opened from the inside. Kevin's body gradually began to reveal itself as the door opened.
"I can't sleep." The young scientist gave Kris a languid look.
Kris smiled a little and lifted his hand to straighten Kevin's messy hair. It looks like the scientist was frustrated in his room because he couldn't sleep. Perhaps he rubbed his head against the pillow until his hair turned messy like a bird's nest.
When Kris's big hand touched Kevin's hair, he instantly felt something abnormal. Kevin's head felt so cold under his palm.
"Are you cold, Kev?" Kris finally asked after he pulled his hand back from the scientist's head.
"No," the scientist answered while shaking his head.
Kris frowned in confusion at Kevin's answer. Usually, Kevin would feel cold when his body suddenly turned cold like ice. Usually, the almond-eyed man kept shivering and looking for warmth by hugging him, who had the fire element in his body. Why didn't that happen tonight?
And, after thinking for a long time, Kris finally said, "It looks like you can control your power now." He smiled proudly at the shorter man.
Kevin looked confused at what Kris said. "I can control my power? How can you be so sure?" He asked with a curious face.
"Because you don't feel cold now even though your power is emerging. You've worked hard, Kev."
Kevin listened attentively to Kris's words. He then raised his two hands, staring at his palms that looked normal. Kris said that his power was emerging, but he didn't feel anything. He felt that his body was normal without any changes.
"There's only one hour left before Blue turns seventeenth. She will attain her power by then. What should we do? Will it be okay if we just do nothing like this, Kris?" The scientist asked as he looked at Kris with a worried expression.
Kris sighed as his right hand went up to touch Kevin's left shoulder. "That's why I come to your room this late," he slowly explained. "Mrs. Nierling asked me to take you to her apartment. You want to know about your power, right? She will explain everything to you tonight."
Kevin was stunned by the werewolf's explanation. "Really? Is she really going to tell me everything? You're not lying, are you, Kris?" He asked in an eager tone. It seemed that he didn't want to believe in Kris so easily.
"Why should I lie to you about this? Didn't I tell you that Mrs. Nierling will explain to you when Blue comes back to us?"
"But, isn't Blue back yet?"
"Yes, Blue isn't back yet, but she's coming back tonight."
At least, that was what Monica believed. Kris didn't know exactly what the lady was planning. The elderly lady only said that Blue would return tonight, but she did not explain how Blue would return. The lady said that Blue would surprise them all tonight. Kris was curious, but the grey-haired lady refused to give him additional information.
The scientist seemed to be considering Kris's words. It seemed he couldn't be completely sure that Kris was telling the truth. Understandably, Kris was very fond of lying even though he said it was for his good. And, even though Kevin was often angry and annoyed because he was constantly being lied to, it didn't seem to deter the werewolves. There must be a lot of things that the sharp-eyed man covered up until now.
After contemplating for a few minutes, the raven-haired man finally decided, "Okay, I will come with you to meet her."
Kris beamed in relief at Kevin's answer. He then instructed Kevin to take his jacket, and he went to his own room to get his jacket and car keys. After that, the two tall men met again in the living room. They then walked out of the big house left by Kevin's biological parents.
For the past few weeks, they had lived there and did not return to Kevin's foster parents' house even though the door to the house had been repaired. Kevin said that he was already comfortable living in that house. He said that he didn't miss his parents anymore because there was Kris at his side now.
Kris would have been happy to hear Kevin's sweet words, but deep down, he knew that Kevin no longer missed his biological parents because he felt disappointed in them both. How ironic.
Kris got into his red car and positioned himself in the driver's seat. Meanwhile, Kevin also got into the same car, sitting in the passenger seat next to Kris. Kevin hadn't got a new car after his black sedan was destroyed in the accident. He had the intention to buy a new car, but Kris didn't allow it. Kris said that Kevin did not need to have his own car because Kris would drive the young man wherever he went. How romantic. Kevin couldn't help but blush when he heard the statement.
"How will Blue get back to us tonight?" Kevin asked after Kris's red car wheels started rolling on the cold asphalt.
It was late at night, so the streets were very quiet. December. Many countries in the northern hemisphere, which latitude was above the Tropic of Cancer, were experiencing Winter now. But, it was different from the countries around the Equator like Calenta, which in the Tropical Zone. The current season was the rainy season. The air was warm and moist. It was very uncomfortable to sleep at night without turning on the air conditioner.
"I don't know how she will come back either," Kris answered after a long pause. "Mrs. Nierling said that we just have to believe in Blue," continued the werewolf.
Kevin didn't give him a response. He just stared at the empty road in front of him. During the last few months, many things were going on in his life, and he rarely enjoyed the night with a calm heart. Somehow, tonight he felt calm in his heart and he could enjoy the lonely night.
"Actually, Mother Monica is a bad person or a good person, Kris?" Kevin suddenly asked again after he remained silent for a few minutes.
"In the past, you also asked that question when we talked about your parents, and now my answer is still the same. Everyone has their own reasons behind their actions, so I don't want to judge someone with a good or bad label."
Kevin smiled slightly at Kris's answer. "You're too naive, Kris," the man said softly. "The boundary between good and bad is vivid. No matter what the reason behind their actions, if they do bad things and harm many people, then they are bad. If they have hurt you, then they are mean to you. Didn't you ever feel hurt by someone and want to revenge?"
Kevin's words made Kris tighten his grip on the steering wheel. "You're right. Those people are bad, and I want to take revenge for my mother's death," he said while grinding his teeth with anger.
Kevin turned to Kris, trying to examine the emotions that the werewolf was now showing. Even though he didn't have the ability to read minds, he certainly knew that Kris was angry right now. Not angry with him, but at someone who killed his mother. Who had taken the life of the woman who gave birth to Kris?
Feeling the need to distract Kris from his bitter memory, Kevin finally said, "I dreamed about Blue last night." His gaze shifted to the front again, no longer looking at Kris. "In my dream, Blue cried."
