Chapter - 92
It took them little more than thirty minutes, and Alex stopped the car in front of the police station.
"Are they both here?" Alex asked.
Daniel nodded as he put back the files in his bag.
"Isn't it odd?" Alex, on the other hand, continued.
"What is?" Daniel asked.
"For the two of them to end up in the same police station?" Alex looked at Daniel, confused.
"What's so odd about it?" Daniel asked again, a bit interested in what Alex had in mind.
"Well, you see, out of all the precincts, how did they end up in the same one? There is something fishy about it. I think both of them are set-up," Alex said.
Daniel smiled, hearing Alex, "That is what we have to find." Daniel said and got off the car while Alex hurried behind him.
Daniel pulled out his phone and made a call, "I want both of you to wait outside the police station. I don't want things to turn chaotic. I will handle everything else."
Walking inside, they strode towards one of the officer's desks.
"Excuse me," Daniel got the officer's attention.
The officer looked at them, waiting for them to talk. Alex started off first, "Sir, we are from Theation's legal team". Alex told the officer.
"So?" The officer raised her brows, "Why are you here?" The officer asked.
Seeing the indifferent look on the officer's face, Alex looked towards Daniel. Daniel nodded towards him before turning towards the officer, "We are the attornies here to represent Mr Abir and Miss Suzie."
The officer nodded, "Mr Abir has been booked for Driving Under Influence (DUI), and Miss Suzie for hit and run," the officer told them.
"Yes, we are here to represent them. These are the papers for Recognizance. It states here that they will attend all the judicial hearings and will not leave the city until the court passes the judgment on their case. We just need them out of the bars". Daniel took out some papers from his bag and gave them to the officer.
The officer took the papers and went through them. After he was done, he stood up, "Let me get the detective in charge."
Alex and Daniel waited for a while before the officer from earlier walked back with someone else.
"I am Detective Smith, officer-in-charge of Abir and Ms Suzie," the fat man with his bulging belly almost threatening his shirt buttons, introduced himself.
"I am Daniel," Daniel introduced himself and put forward his hand for a handshake.
"I know... I know..." Detective Smith ignored the extended hand from Daniel and waved his hand, and asked them to leave.
Daniel nodded as he retracted his hand back.
"You know that they are the suspect, right? You have the court order that's why I am letting them leave. Otherwise, for what they have done, they should be in prison," Detective Smith said as he looked at Daniel.
"Detective, Theation is willing to cooperate fully with the investigation. My clients will be here anytime you want to interrogate them," Daniel tried to assure Detective Smith.
"They better be," Detective Smith stared at Daniel as he said. Then he looked at Alex from top to bottom, "They will be here soon. Just take them and leave."
Daniel nodded, not trying to stretch the conversation any longer.
"Che... Rich bastards and their dogs. They should be in prison for what they have done. Getting their way out using money," Detective Smith murmured to himself as he pulled out a pack of cigarettes but was loud enough for Alex and Daniel to hear.
"Oo... Listen, Detective..." Alex said as he tried to approach Detective Smith but was pulled back by Daniel.
"No, Alex... Don't... Don't make a scene here," Daniel said, pulling Alex back.
"Why are you stopping me? Look at him blabber nonsense..." Alex tried to reason with Daniel.
"Calm down, and let me do my work. I don't want to spend my evening getting you out of prison," Daniel said as he pushed Alex behind himself.
"Don't let that young blood boil. We can easily fix him here," Detective Smith said and stuffed back the cigarette in the pack as he left from there.
Before anything else could happen, two officers walked in their direction, following a boy and a girl. The boy looked a bit shaken, intimidated by everyone around him, while the girl, on the other hand, looked as if she was not bothered at all.
"Humph..." The girl gave a look to Daniel, and without saying a word, made her way out of the police station. On the other hand, the boy walked with baby steps towards Alex and Daniel. He stood in front of the two of them and in a sincere tone, he apologised, "Thank you for getting me out of here. And I am very sorry that because of me the company had to suffer so much. I will try and repay the losses and will work double hard from...".
"There is no need for that. We are just doing what we are paid to do. Everything else, it's better you discuss it with Jessica face to face," Daniel interrupted the boy.
Listening to Daniel, the boy gave a slight nod, and with the speed of a turtle, made his way out of the police station. Alex, on the other hand, waited for Daniel to finish the paperwork.

Outside the Police Station,
Completing the paperwork, Alex and Daniel walked out of the police station, where Suzie and Abir were waiting for them.
Suzie, on one hand, looked rather impatient with everything going around her, while Abir, on the other, looked hesitant to even meet his eyes with anyone else.
Both of them had masks on their face while they had already donned themselves with hats. The reporters were already camping outside the police station to take a snap of either of them.
Daniel looked around and found them in one isolated corner dodging the prying, keen eyes of the reporters.
Daniel walked up to them while Alex followed, "Are both of you, alright?" He asked as he looked at the two of them.
"I am fine? Don't even get me started. Can we just leave from here? Because of your incompetence, I had to spend my night here," Suzie snapped at Daniel as soon as Daniel finished, "Do you know how uncomfortable it was? I had to sleep on that cold floor with a bunch of yellow teeth whores. Eeee..." Suzie shuddered as she thought about the women she had to spend the night with. Angry, she turned her face away from Daniel.
Alex found it odd that Daniel would let her talk to him like that and trample over her. Maybe Daniel was used to these celebrities acting like spoiled brats, but Alex didn't like it.
Daniel just gave Suzie a slight smile and turned his attention towards Abir. The young man just gave him a nod and averted his gaze.
"You both look just fine to me. Let us leave for Theation right now. Jessica would like to have a word with the two of you. Your managers are already here, you will leave with them." Daniel told them.
Abir nodded, but Suzie refused right away, "I am not going anywhere. I have been tortured by those junkies all night, and now you want me to spend the rest of the day explaining it to Jessica? Not gonna happen. I am not going anywhere but home," while she was quarrelling with Daniel, a man and a woman walked up to them.
"You are finally here. What took you so long to get me out of there? Were you thinking of letting me rot behind bars? You must be jumping, thinking of the fact that you will get rid of me, weren't you?" The man could not even take a breath when he was bombarded with questions by Suzie.
The man was none other than her manager.
"Well... I was busy trying to get you out of..." The manager tried to explain but was cut short.
"Whatever. I don't want to hear it. Just take me home," Suzie shushed her manager and walked to her car, leaving everyone behind.
Suzie's manager gestured an apology to all of them and hurried behind Suzie.
On the other hand, the lady walked up to Abir and talked to him softly so that no one could listen to them. The lady continued to whisper something to Abir, and the latter just nodded his head continuously.
Daniel waited for them to finish. When he saw that the two of them were done, he walked up to them, "Bertha, Since Suzie has already gone home, there is no point in taking him to see Jessica. Let him rest for today. I will talk to Jessica and explain everything to her. Let's postpone the meeting for tomorrow in her office," Daniel suggested to Bertha, Abir's manager.
"Let's do that," Bertha nodded, "Then we will take our leave, now. Let's go, Abir."
Bertha agreed to the arrangement and turned towards Abir. She put her hand over his shoulder, and the two of them walked away.
"We should get going as well," Daniel said, and leaving Alex there, made his way to where the car was parked.
