Fang Chen returned to folding his arms as soon as he landed on the stage. His gaze held unconcealed curiosity as he looked at Teng Ye closely.

Teng Ye himself held his same expressionless face with a bit of indifference in his eyes as he looked at Fang Chen. This attitude of his wasn’t out of arrogance but a situation where someone of a higher existence meets a lowly being.

Though Teng Ye came to notice that among the many lowly human beings he’s met before, this one in front of him seemed to possess a bit more importance.

“Can I ask you something?”

Fang Chen suddenly said, to which Teng Ye didn’t respond or show any intention of answering. Though Fang Chen decided to take that as a yes.

“Can you tell me the bloodline you possess?”

“Why should I?”

For the first time Teng Ye spoke, and strangely his voice didn’t fit his demeanor. It was smooth to the ears and quite charming.

Feng Chen shrugged his shoulders and replied.

“It’s just out of curiosity. So, are you going to tell me?”

Teng Ye frowned.

“I refuse.”

“Why? Is it that you can’t, or you won’t?”

“You, why are you talking so much? I want to get this over with so I can go back to my Lady’s side, you people are annoying.”

As Teng Ye finish saying that a blood-chilling aura that could scare even demons and ghosts wafted from his body.

Though to Fang Chen, this aura was only mildly irritating to his senses. Looking at Teng Ye he said.

“You know, I’m not the type to talk so much. It’s just that your origins are making me curious. And I’m sure you’ve sensed a similar feeling from me and Jun.”

Fang Chen motioned to Jun with his head and Teng Ye glanced at him. Turning from Jun, Teng Ye looked at Fang Chen but opted to say nothing. His battle aura only increased further.

Though Fang Chen was still remaining calm as he continued.

“And you referred to someone as Lady, could that be Goddess Ji Mei? Have you become her attendant? Why would you do something like that given your noble bloodline.”

Teng Ye realized Fang Chen wasn’t going to stop talking until he got an answer, so he frowned before saying.

“She is the only person to ever defeat me so she’s worthy enough for me to choose her.”

“Is that so? Then if I defeat you today would you choose me instead?”

Teng Ye hearing this had his expressionless face froze for some reason. He quickly recovered and said bluntly.

“I refuse.”

“Why? Do you think I won’t be able to defeat you? Consider it.”

It was the first time in a long while that Fang Chen had spoken so much. But there was a good reason, Teng Ye was giving him a peculiar feeling.

The inheritance Mo Rong gave him was reacting to Teng Ye, or more precisely his bloodline, and that reaction was one of excitement as if it had met a lifelong friend.

Fang Chen wanted to know more about Teng Ye, there were even thoughts of convincing him to join their group.

Teng Ye’s expression was strange and his battle intent faltered a bit. To Fei Yin’s words, he held up his hand and said.

“You-I think you’re misunderstanding something.”

“Hm? What do you mean?”

Fang Chen was confused by Teng Ye’s words.

“When my Lady defeated me, she became worthy enough to be my bride. As for you… I'm afraid I don’t swing that way.”

Fang Chen blinked.

The word bride echoing in his mind.

Soon, he released an awkward smile before coughing into his fist.

“Ah, so that’s what you mean. Then I apologize for the misunderstanding, I don't swing that way either.”

“Bwahahaha!! And I thought you weren’t the type to find love, but rather you want to jump straight to getting a bride. But wait, who would be the bride? You or him? Bwahahahahaha!!!”

The sound of Mu Fan’s mocking words and laughter entered Fang Chen’s ears from below the stage, causing his awkward expression to become even more awkward.

“Ehem. After this battle I would like to get to know you, Teng Ye, I have a few questions I’d like to be answered.”

“Bwahahahahaha!”

Mu Fan released another round of laughter upon hearing Fang Chen’s words.

Ignoring Mu Fan, Fang Chen’s fighting spirit began to rise, and his hand move to hold one of his swords at his side.

Teng Ye coldly looked at Fang Chen and responded.

“I have no intention of dragging this out, I’ll just defeat you in three moves to make this quick.”

“Oh, I look forward to those three moves. I’ll be sure to return them in kind.”

Under the thunderous crowd, the entire battle arena seemed to be shaking like it was on the verge of crumbling. Even those who weren’t into the battle and what was at stake couldn’t help but feel goosebumps running down their arms.

The atmosphere here was absolutely insane.

At the focal point of this intensity, were Teng Ye and Fang Chen.

The two silently stared at each for only a brief moment before Teng Ye casually raised his hand and used his thumb to flick his middle finger towards Fang Chen.

BANG!!!

A sonic boom actually echoed out from Teng Ye’s simple flick and the air compressed into a bullet at his fingertip before shooting out at Fang Chen.

Fang Chen moved, drawing his sword and blocking this compressed air bullet.

BOOOOM!!

Behind the compressed air bullet was a storm-like shockwave. The stage shook violently and Yang Su’s and the others' robes fluttered uncontrollably.

Fang Chen was forced to retreat two steps because of this attack. When everything calmed down Fang Chen looked at his hand to see it was shaking. He looked up at Teng Ye with a solemn expression, and in return, Teng Ye was simply looking at him with his usual expressionless gaze.

The Mainlanders in the crowd upon seeing this attack by Teng Ye had their eyes wide open and their mouth agape.

“What-What was that just now? Was that some kind of wind Daoist Magic?”

A young man said with shock. From his fancy robes, this young man could easily be identified as a Mainlander.

A Borderner from his side snorted and said.

“Daoist Magic? Are you blind? That was pure physical strength.”

“What? Are you joking? Who could possess such physical strength that a mere flick of their finger rivals the power of a Tier 3 spell? That attack could possibly directly kill a late Foundation Realm cultivator if they weren’t careful in receiving the attack.”

As the young man said that, he was in complete shock.

“This isn’t a surprise, from his appearance you can already tell Teng Ye isn’t human. He’s from a noble Sea Beast race.”

“So he was indeed a Sea Beast, to think the higher-ups of this place would only him and other Sea Beasts to gain citizenship here.”

Another disciple from an academy on the Mainland said. In response, a Borderner released a sigh and said.

“It’s only beneficial for us to do so. The ones who gain citizenship here have suffered from the four Sea Lords' tyranny the most, having their races slaughtered without mercy. Their hatred for their own kind might even be greater than ours.”

“Huh? What’s a Sea Lord?”

“What, you don’t even know that? Sea Lords are the Sea Beasts that control the four territories of the Ocean surrounding our Mapple Continent. They are Nascent Level Beasts, but despite being stuck in that realm and unable to break through, they have accumulated power that made them able to rival our human Soul Transformation Realm cultivators in strength. And one Sea Lord is said to even have an innate ability that could kill an existence above the Soul Transformation Realm.”

“What?! There is such a thing? How terrifying if that’s true. So, is that Teng Ye one of those runaway Sea Beasts that came here to seek asylum?”

“Teng Ye, he…”

The Borderner paused here for a moment with a frown, before continuing.

“Teng Ye was personally chased down by the strongest of the Sea Lords. Rumors circulating when he first came here as an infant says that he was the lone survivor of some royal Sea Beast Clan that suffered a betrayal and was wiped out overnight.”

“So this Teng Ye is a prince among the Sea Beast race? For a member of a defeated Sea Beast Clan, he seems quite talented.”

“No, you seemed to be misunderstanding me. It looks like I didn’t emphasize just what kind of status Teng Ye has.”

The Borderner shook his head as he said that.

“That Teng Ye…”

The Borderner pointed at Teng Ye on the stage.

“…isn’t just some prince. He’s THE Crown Prince, and the Crown Prince of the entire Sea Beast race in the four territories at that.”

“W-What? Really?”

“Yes. The Sea Beasts' society has been structured like a Monarchy and Teng Ye’s Sea Beast Clan was once the rulers of the Ocean. Why so surprise? You Mainlanders have you’re Crown Prince so we Borderners have ours.”

On the stage, Fang Chen was recovering from Teng Ye’s bizarre attack as he heard.

“That’s the first attack, I’ll attack for the second time now.”

Upon hearing his words, Fang Chen gripped his sword.

Down below, Jun wore a serious expression as he looked at Teng Ye.

‘His physique is way stronger than mine, just what kind of bloodline does he have? It’s too terrifying, can brother Chen even draw the match as he said? He might even lose.'

However, upon thinking that Jun shook his head.

'No, what am I thinking? Even though we haven’t fought to determine our ranks, we all know where we stand in strength among ourselves. And in normal circumstances, all of us put brother Chen as the second strongest out of our group in pure combat strength. Teng Ye might have a mysterious background and bloodline, but brother Chen at the very least won’t lose.’

“That’s some monstrous strength you have, but like I said… I’ll return them in kind.”

SHIVER

Everyone in the battle arena suddenly felt a cold chill worm it's way down their spines.

Their eyes were wide open as they looked at Fang Chen in the center of the stage, slaughter intent rolled from his body cloaking it with an eerie blood-red hue.

“Euek!”

“W-What the hell is that?!”

“What the fuck?! That’s-??!”

“How can someone have such potent slaughter intent? That’s terrifying, did he massacre an entire city or something?!”

“These Mainlanders, just what the hell are they?”

As the audience was caught off guard by Fang Chen releasing such strong slaughter intent, Teng Ye suddenly felt something in his blood reacting to Fang Chen's aura.

His eyes narrowed at this feeling.

“So what of that slaughter intent?”

BANG

An equally monstrous amount of slaughter intent rolled out from Teng Ye.

Ji Mei frowned and bit and took Ji Niu with her to retreat back to where Chang Li and the others had down so long ago.

Even for her, with Fang Chen and Teng Li’s slaughter intent being released together, her mind might be affected if she wasn’t careful; condemning her to spiral into a crazed state with only the will to slaughter consuming her mind.

Yang Su and the others on the other side of the stage had to retreat as well.

“I knew it, we’re connected somehow. I really need to talk to you after this now.”

Fang Chen said as he felt Mo Rong's legacy reacting even more.

Teng Ye didn’t reply and only raised his palm.

The void trembled at this as Teng Ye prepared his second attack.
