Chapter 1032: Stay Alive

Lu Li was at a critical juncture in his cultivation. For the past nine months, he had been in his Wicked Bead and had not come out once.
He was making his utmost effort and would only sleep for a day when he was worn out. Upon waking up, he would resume cultivation.
Admittedly, the transcendent State was an inspiring method. Lu Li’s learning progressed twice as fast at this state. He was keen and sharp in thinking. Many things that confused him became clear at once.
During the nine months, Lu Li learned two more Profound Meanings of earth’s properties and studied 10 skills of the 12 required. He could not believe this progress himself. In the old days, he would not have this achievement in years. Now, it only took him nine months.
He had two more skills to study so he was learning with all his might. He was well aware that people were looking for him, and that Jiang Qiling crushed a jade talisman. It must mean that something had happened. In all likelihood... they had come.
However, having only two more skills, Lu Li wanted to press on to the finish without faltering. He was at the best of his state. Without any surprise, he would finish in half a month at most. Then, he could make Stone Golems as powerful as Semi-God Realm warriors.
The 11th skill was about to be mastered. It was an important stage. Therefore, he did not stop cultivating. He believed that Patriarch of Law Enforcement would be able to stall for a few days even if the warriors of nine universes had come.
“Alright!”
On the third day of the invasion, Lu Li opened his eyes. He had finally mastered the 11th skill and only one was left to learn.
“Time to stop!”
Lu Li could not waste more time. He must go out and check. If the warriors of the nine universes came directly to the Great Land, when he went out later, the Great Land would be covered with rivers of blood and hills of corpses.
He did not have time to wash up. He dashed out of the Wicked Bead. Jiang Qiling, Bai Qiuxue, and Bai Xiashuang were all in the room and they came to him as soon as he came out.
“Darling!”
Jiang Qiling said with worry, “Two days ago, Patriarch Sun and He Yue both sent messages—they have come, from the Ocean Land of the East!”
“Okay, I understand!”
Lu Li forced a smile. He hugged his three wives and said, “Now, go to the Prison of Wood. I will go and handle the situation.”
The three of them did not know what had happened exactly. Bai Xiashuang was always a carefree girl. She said with a grin, “Darling, you have been cultivating for a long time. When you come back, remember to spend some quality time with us.”
Bai Qiuxue was more attentive and Jiang Qiling was clever. They did not know the details but they could tell the situation was grave.
Bai Qiuxue bit her lips and asked, “Darling, is it something difficult?”
Jiang Qiling said no such words but her eyes asked the question for her. Lu Li smiled and shrugged. “Have some faith in your husband, will you? Just something minor. I have been planning for years and my abilities have been improved. It is okay. Wait for my good news at the Prison of Wood.”
“No, we will wait for you here!”
Jiang Qiling was stubborn, “If you don’t come back, we will go and find you. If...”
She did not finish the second half of her sentence. Lu Li indeed had been planning for years, including relocating the elite disciples to the Prison of Wood. Jiang Qiling could tell something was up.
Lu Li was planning a route of retreat. He was asking them to go to the Prison of Wood now. It was more like... making arrangements for when he passed.
“Trust me!”
Lu Li stressed again and said to her solemnly, “Qiling, listen to me and don’t make it harder for me, okay?”
“Yes!”
Jiang Qiling’s eyes reddened. Lu Li’s words read more like arrangements for what happened after he died. He was indirectly telling her to take care of the rear area. His trip must be fatally danger this time.
“It’s time!”
Lu Li kissed his three wives on their cheeks and left in strides. Jiang Qiling watched as he left, tears traveling down her face. Bai Qiuxue’s eyes grew watery as well. Only Bai Xiashuang was not worried. She frowned in confusion and asked, “My dear sisters, why are you acting like this? It’s not like our husband is not coming back. Let’s go to the Prison of Wood now. I discovered some interesting places there.”
...
Lu Li flew away and his first stop was the valley that Dragon Demon was at. He took Dragon Demon and Little White with him and went to the base camp. There, he used psychic power and located Patriarch Sun at once. While flying to the opening, he shouted, “Patriarch Sun, come here!”
“Whoosh~”
Patriarch Sun came over. Lu Li posed his question, “How is it now?”
“I don’t know the specifics!” Patriarch Sun explained, “Patriarch of Law Enforcement told me to retreat with warriors and pass a message to you. Madam Ling has told you, hasn’t she? And... I have destroyed the two entrances. All of the Demon-slaying City are now relocated to the Inferno.”
“Good!”
Lu Li nodded. “Deliver my command. Have residents of the Deserted World come in here and seal off the passageway between the Deserted World and the Inferno. I will keep in touch with you via the subsidiary bodies of He Yue. In case of turmoil, let my grandpa handle it.”
With that said, Lu Li teleported out. On the other side, he found someone surprising. It was Zi Lian.
She seemed to be here waiting for him and she was not surprised to see him at all. He threw a glance at her and asked, “Zi Lian, what are you doing here?”
“Nothing, really!”
Zi Lian smiled. “I am a bit bored recently and hope to travel to the Demon-slaying Battleground. Since you are going, let me accompany you. Do not overthink. I will not harass you at the Demon-slaying Battleground.”
“Eh?”
Lu Li was confused. The other two passageways had been destroyed. How could Zi Lian be sure that there was another way? It seemed... that she had figured out plenty of things and was going to sacrifice herself.
“Nonsense!”
Lu Li pulled a long face as he scolded her, “What is so fun about the Demon-slaying Battleground? You can go nowhere. Go back to the Prison of Wood and stay there. This is an order!”
“Buzzing~”
Zi Lian took out a dagger and held it against her neck. She looked at him with determination. “If you don’t allow me to go, I will commit suicide right now. Can you stop me doing that? Lu Li... this is the last time I beg of you. Don’t worry. I will not mess things up. I have learned an ancient skill and I can protect myself when faced with Semi-God Realm warriors.”
“No!”
Lu Li was furious but that determination in her eyes told him that if he didn’t bring her, she would kill herself here.
He had no time to let Zi Lian pester him so. If she was resolute of keeping him company in this dangerous pursuit, then he would want to worry about her for nothing. Coldly, he said, “Then go. I will not stop you if death is all you want!”
“Ha, ha!”
Zi Lian laughed, like a blossoming flower. She put away her dagger and stepped into the Teleportation Formation with Lu Li.
After several rounds of teleportation, Lu Li arrived at the secluded passageway, only to find that Jiang Tianshun was guarding here.
“Lu Li, you have finished cultivating?”
Jiang Tianshun had been here for a day. Patriarch of Law Enforcement told him to destroy the passageway as soon as the jade talisman was crushed. Since it was not yet, Jiang Tianshun hadn’t done anything.
Knowing the arrangement, Lu Li was relieved. “Grandpa Jiang, please keep guarding here. Now, you will listen to me. Don’t destroy the tunnel until I have crushed the jade talisman. When I let you do that, please take care of Jiang Qiling and the twins. Don’t let them do anything stupid.”
With that said, Lu Li and Zi Lian went into the tunnel and blurred out from Jiang Tianshun’s vision.
“Lu Li, you must come back alive!”
Jiang Tianshun seemed confounded for a moment. Then, he came back to his senses and shouted. His voice lingered on in the wildness, echoing.
