Chapter 66: Headless

When Shion heard about the situation from Lunally, he felt the urge to go to her aid immediately.

But first, he had to talk to the elder to understand the current situation. As it turned out, there had always been elves who were occasionally missing, but in the past week, it had become more noticeable. Some of them had been killed, indicating the seriousness of the situation.

Shion was a little annoyed that the information from the toolmaker Opt was correct.

The enemy’s goal was the bodies and enslavement of the elves. After informing the elves of this, Shion told them that he would hurry to Kuna and Punini.

Hearing that, the elves brought out their weapons and said they would do the same. The elves who live in the village are trained from an early age to use bows or daggers.

All of them, no exceptions, are ready to go. Therefore, they would not be a burden on Shion. Seeing them like that, Shion agreed to work together.

There was just one problem.

It was not night yet, which meant that Zion would have a hard time using his spying magic. So, the elder head to Kuna’s house and bring him some clothes.

‘Sniff-Sniff’

Haku smelled it and decided to follow its nose. Composed of seven or eight of the most skilled elves in the village, Shion and the others head out.

Incidentally, the elder was among them.

“Haku, everything all right?”

‘No problem whatsoever! Don’t you worry’

After going through the forest for a while, Shion felt the sunlight shining into the forest reflect something, and he called out to his companions.

“Stop, please. I need to check a few things”

“What is the matter, Lord Shion?”

Shion looked and walked cautiously. He found what looked like a thin thread stretched between the trees ahead of him.

The area of the thread is quite wide, with three strips that are placed accurately to hit the knees, stomach, and neck.

“It’s a trap. The enemy must have set it”

The thread that was stretched out was a special kind of thread spewed out by a spider monster, and it was extremely tough, and in some cases, sharper than a blade. Since there was no blood on it, Kuna and the others must have successfully avoided it.

‘If we had kept running like that, someone might get killed!’

“But maybe the only reason he’d do something like this is that he’s lurking nearby”

Unexpectedly, the elder dismissed that possibility.

“It’s not necessarily humans. Because this trap has been in the forest since long before the arrival of humans”

“What do you mean?”

“There is a monster that has lived here for two years. Dullahan”

“Another rare monster…”

He had heard rumors about this monster many times, but Shion has never actually met one. It’s a knightly type, but it’s famous for its headless appearance, and everyone has said that it’s a very troublesome opponent among monsters.

The elves begin to be wary of their surroundings at once because when there is a trap like this, monsters are lurking nearby.

The bad feeling came true and the enemy suddenly revealed itself. A mass of flames flew from the trees and struck one of the elves.

The flames themselves were nothing serious, but they spread to his clothes, and his friends helped him put them out.

A knight on a black horse, with a longsword in his hand, rushed at the elves to take advantage of the gap.

As rumor has it, it has no neck and is equipped with armor that looks solid from torso to toe. It seems to have high defensive power.

“Lord Shion! That is the monster!”

‘Haku…”

‘Roger that’

The opponent has gained a lot of momentum. In addition, he’s probably heavy. So Haku, who is the biggest of the bunch, tackles the opponent to stop the rush and at the same time dealt some damage to him.

The black horse and Dullahan were blown away and fell over with a rustling sound, rolling around on the ground.

The horse is out of the question, but the Dullahan seemed to have no sense of pain so he got up immediately. There, Shion, who was in close contact with it, struck it with a kick.

It was a brilliant decision, and Dullahan fell on his buttocks again. Shion tried to stab his sword through the gap in its armor, but he decided that it was not going to work and changed his action.

He took his opponent’s arm and broke it with a cross hardening.

The sensation was definitely there.

However, Dullahan did not even show any sign of pain and struck him with its other hand.

Shion guarded its punch with his palm. He also raised his guard.
