Chapter 100:
“Well, do explain why you are so late?” I heard Kayda say the moment when I entered the inn Warlurd said she would be staying in.
“Oh, Kayda, I have been looking for you,” I said, looking at her with a smile. Walking to the table, Kayda and I presume the inn Lady was sitting. I pulled out a chair and sat down with them.
“I am listening,” Kayda said, narrowing her eyes at me.
“Come on, Kayda, I have been busy the entire night can’t we just get some food and go to bed.” I wined, hitting my head on the table.
“Oh, so that’s why you got that room. I see, I see.” The inn lady said, nodding to herself, making me raise an eyebrow at her before looking back at Kayda.
“while you busy explain to include why you have 6 chakrams following you around and has killing intent.”
“Well, can we trust this lady?” I said, pointing at the inn lady.
“Sara works for the guild, so it will help that she also hears what is happening,” Kayda explains, making Sara smile at me.
.....
“Okay, I am not going to go into detail too much with the storytelling but if you want to know more just ask,” I said looking at Sara. Seeing her nod, I continued. “After I blew up the carriage, I jumped on a roof and ran into the city. After a while, I jumped down in front of some gruff guy who had a knife that had killing intent. Getting the knife, I wanted to see the black pillar that was created on the destroyed church. Going there, I saw the knife materials, and the pillar was the same. I did ask the gruff guy where he got it and he said he got it at the black market.”
“Please don’t tell me,” Kayda mumbled, looking at me worried.
“I also asked where the black market was. So, knowing where it was, I went there. At the time I got close to the location, it was still a couple of hours before dark, so I found an abandoned watchtower and sat there waiting for the sun to set. 2 hours after the sun has set, the dwellers started pouring out, and that was my queue to move again. I followed an old man to a bar where I joined in. After drinking about 20 sake jugs, the bartender, a small demon girl, invited me to the black-market auction house. Accepting her invite, I when there and sold some of my weapons and bought me the set of chakrams that you can see floating behind me.” I explain, moving the chakrams in front of me before putting them on the table.
“They look expensive,” Sara said while inspecting one of the chakrams.
“I, of course, got you something as well,” I said taking out the box that still had the white coat in and handed it to the exited Kayda.
“Oh, okay,” Kayda said, trying to hide her excitement.
“The chakrams were 4000 gold coins, and Kayda coat was 70 000 gold coins,” I said, making both Sara and Kayda look at me with giant eyes.
“What!” Sara yelled.
“How do you have so much money!?” Kayda yelled, petting her coat back into the box.
“Well, I sold 15 weapons at the auction house and made 300 000, so 74 000 isn’t that much,” I said, keeping in my laugh.
“You, you made so much money just selling weapons,” Sara said, baffled.
“Yeah, I made them as well,” I said, making a dagger under the table before giving it to Sara.
“Woah, it’s so beautiful. If you made various ones, it would make sense why you made so much money.” Sara said, inspecting the daggers.
“Yeah, now it’s time for the juicier details and information I gathered,” I said, getting serious.
“We are listening,” Kayda said, getting serious again.
“The demon girl that brought me to the auction house was one of the crimson bandits’ info brokers,” I said, letting the information settle in.
“What you met one of their info brokers!?” Kayda and Sara shouted in surprise.
“Yeah, I also met Grandenzil at the auction house with another girl whose main weapons are chakrams. Would you believe there is someone like that in their group?” I said with a cheerful smile.
“Wait, you met Grandenzil, and she didn’t recognize you. How is that possible she met and tried to kill you yesterday afternoon.” Kayda said, baffled, looking me over for any scars.
“hey, stop that. You know, even if she attacked me, I wouldn’t have scars on me,” I said, pushing her away from me, annoyed.
“You met and survived Grandenzil 2 times,” Sara said, baffled.
“Yeah, anyway, after finding out that Sammy was one of their info brokers, I tortured her at the auction house and got all the information I could out of her before the auction ended,” I said, putting the knife and chakrams with some small bolder from the pillar on the table before continuing. “First thing is that the materials of the knife, these chakrams, and the black pillar that was in the destroyed church were made of the same material called demon rock. She didn’t have much information on how demon rock is made but she did say it is quite common in the underworld. I personally think the demon rock is made out of something that no one will accept. Seeing as I have never heard of it before today.”
“Demon rock? That’s a weird name for a metal.” Sara said with a thoughtful expression.
“I have read about it in some book in the past, but I can’t remember anything about the details of the book anymore,” Kayda said, thinking hard.
“Well, anyways about their attack yesterday afternoon. They were hired to ambush and kill all the church personnel by some unknown party. This unknown party came to the demon girl and gave her some orders with 2 million coins as an advance payment. No one knows who hired them, not even Grandenzil herself. Sadly, that’s all the useful things I got out of her. She also didn’t know anything about the head of the Anabald.” I said, looking a bit deflated.
“I guess you did well on getting as much as possible,” Kayda said with a sign standing up. Looking at me again, she added. “Let’s go sleep. I am tired.”
“Now you are tired?” I said, standing up again.
“Yes, do you have a problem?” Kayda asked with a raised eyebrow.
“No, what room am I sleeping in.”
“I will show you now. Sara thank you for keeping me company all this time, and I will do a more detail report about her findings later.” Kayda said, waving at Sara, who was still sitting at the table.
“No problem, anytime for you,” Sara said, waving back with a smile on her face.
“Come on, lizard. We need to go sleep. We need to get out of here tomorrow.” I said, annoyed for some reason, stopping halfway up the stairs looking back at Kayda.
“What did you just call me, fox,” Kayda said, following me up.
“Where is the room?” I asked, ignoring her glare.
“Tch, top floor,” Kayda said, walking past me.
“Well, lead the way,” I said, looking back at Sara. Seeing her gaze fixed on Kayda, my annoyance reaches a new level making me make a few throwing knifes before throwing them at Sara’s table, scaring her.
“That’s your first warning,” I said, glaring at Sara before turning around again.
“My first warning?” Sara mumbled, confused seeing me disappear up the stairs.
Following Kayda to the top floor, we walked into a seemingly giant room. Looking around, I could guess this was their sort of most luxurious hotel room. Having a giant bed that easily can fit 3 people on it. There was also a set of double doors that I presume was for the bathroom.
“Wait, why is the only one bed? Where am I supposed to sleep?” I asked Kayda, who was busy walking towards the bathroom door.
“I am going to take a shower. No peeking.” Kayda said, saying the last part with a grin closing the door behind her.
“Peeking?” I muttered to myself, confused for a second before I realized what Kayda meant by it. Feeling my face heat up again, I shouted. “Who would want to peek on some lizard!”
