Chapter 116:
“Heh, you weren’t wrong,” I said, smiling at the captain.
“How are you still?” The captain said, taking a few steps back in surprise.
“Who knows?” I said, shrugging before the air around me started freezing.
“Getaway!” The captain yelled, jumping away. Sadly 2 people weren’t fast enough and were turned into ice sculptures.
“Heh, so that’s how you guys did it. shadow magic.” I said, coughing more blood.
Hitting the ice sculpture humans, they broke apart, falling on the ground.
“Sigh, cough, such a pain,” I mumbled while pulling the swords out of my chest.
“Captain, what is she? How did she survive that?” One of the devil cultists said, looking at me skeptically.
.....
“I don’t know, but she might not be that simple. We still can’t give up. We still outnumber her by a lot.” The captain whispered.
‘Outnumber me by a lot?’ I thought, confused hearing the captain’s words.
Whistle!
Stab!
“Hmm, so this is what you meant,” I said, looking at my raised arm that was pierced by an arrow.
“She could react to that.” The captain mumbled, depressed.
“Why are you surprised?” I said, pulling the arrow out of my forearm.
“That...”
“Was it because they used shadow magic while shooting it?” I said with a raised eyebrow.
“What? Are you saying you can see us using our magic?”
‘Are they dumb or something? The sun might be setting, but it’s still light. Even if it were the night, I would be able to see their fucken shadows move.’ I thought facepalming.
“Sigh, you guys aren’t very smart, are you?” I said, spinning my scythe, blocking 6 arrows that came from my right side.
“Tsk, we will need to distract her.” The captain mumbled to his subordinates.
“You first need to worry about staying alive,” I said, appearing behind him swinging my scythe sideways.
“Same to you.” The captain said before disappearing in black smoke.
“Zagan, you are quite useless with your shadow magic,” I said, jumping forwards dodging the other 3 people’s swords.
“Damn, she still dodged that.” The captain said, humping after me.
“When I see Zagan again, I am going to put him through the wringer for not using his shadow magic this well,” I mumbled while paring a few arrows.
“Dammit, the intel didn’t say she was this strong. we will need to go all out on her.”
“Hey, mister captain. I am curious where did you guys find out about me?”
“...”
“Sigh, what’s it going to hurt telling me,” I said, sighing to myself while spinning the scythe around.
“...that’s true. The people you tortured gave us the intel.” The captain said, making me confused.
‘If that is so, then it seems they can transfer memories or something along those lines. That will also make sense why they didn’t know about my regeneration ability.’ I thought, thinking back to the first fight I had with them.
“I-” as I started talking again, I tilted my head, dodging a harpoon aimed towards me. “Seriously, a harpoon?”
“What? They are useful.” The captain said, shrugging.
“If you say so,” I said, changing the scythe into 2 katanas, making it easier to block the harpoons and arrows.
“Distract her close range. I don’t think she can handle long-range fighters.” The captain whispered to his men.
‘He might not be wrong, but this kind of long-range is no problem.’ I thought, blocking the captains’ sword swings.
“Are you sure, cap.? She can use multiple weapons quite well.” One of them said, looking at me.
“That’s why we are going to need to distract her, and don’t worry. We have back up.” The captain said just then 7 other shows appeared behind me.
‘Hmm, well shit.’ I thought flash stepping away just in time to dodge a dozen harpoons and a sword stab.
“Well, I enjoyed I scuffle guys, but I got to go,” I said, saluting them before turning around running away.
“She is running away!” The captain yelled, running after me.
“What a coward.” One of the devil cultists comments.
“Yeah, all talk, no bite.”
“She is a fox, right? Then why do I see a scary-ugh!” another cultist said but couldn’t finish as something suddenly hit him in the head.
Boom!
“Now you are pissing me off,” I said, looking at the group that chased me with an ice bow and an ice quiver holding dozens of black ice arrows that had some lighting sparks going off inside of them.
“a bow?” A few devil cultist comments confused.
“Yeah, so fuck you,” I said, releasing 3 arrows towards them.
Augh! Augh! Augh!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
“Ugh, watch out. They are exposed on impact.” the captain said, seeing the arrows explode instantly after they hit their mark.
‘Uhm, they don’t. I just got lucky.’ I thought, jumping up dodging a harpoon. Looking in the direction, it came from. I saw a shadow moving away. Aiming my bow towards the direction it was going in, I let loose another infused fire and lightning arrow.
Boom!
Augh!
“Shit, why can she-” the captain mumbled, looking at the dead archer on the broken roof just to get blown up himself.
Boom!
“ha-ha, that’s what you get you to fool. Hahaha.” I said, laughing at the leftover devil cultist. Nocking more arrows, I smirked before adding. “The fun only started.”
Boom!
“ha-ha, get fucked!”
Boom!
“Ooh, that one was bloody, hahaha.”
Boom!
“Come on, didn’t you guys say I was a coward? Look at you now. All, pissing yourself in fear.” I yelled, smirking at them.
“Kitsuna, calm down right now!” suddenly, hearing Kayda voice my head clear. Blinking a couple of times, I realize both my arms were engulfed with black fire and lightning.
“Fuck I knew I shouldn’t have used those elements,” I said, calming myself, making the fire and lightning on my arms die down.
Shaking my head, I look towards Kayda, making my eyes widen.
“Hole fuck, what happened? Are you okay?” I said, running towards the bloody Kayda.
“I should be the one saying that to you,” Kayda said, looking at me confused.
“What do you mean by that. You are full of blood.” I said while inspecting Kayda.
“You are also full of blood,” Kayda said back, tilting her head at me.
“Yeah, but it is usually a thing, isn’t it,” I said, lifting Kayda arms.
“Hey, stop doing that. This isn’t my blood anyways.” Kayda said, pulling away from me.
“It isn’t?” I said, tilting my head at her.
“No, with this much, I would have passed out,” Kayda said, sighing to herself. “Anyways, aren’t you forgetting something?” Kayda said, pointing behind me.
“Huh? Oh, oops.” I said, looking at what Kayda was pointing at.
“M-Mo-Monster.” One of the cultists mumbled while crawling backward-facing us.
“Sheesh, that’s so mean,” I whined, not making an effort to hide my prideful smile.
“They seem less will strong than the last group.” Kayda comment with a thoughtful expression.
“I am not in the mood,” I said, rubbing my head. Looking to the right in the distance, I smiled at what I saw. “Luckily, my apprentice is here for that.”
.....
“Apprentice? what do you mean?”
“I mean, the dumbasses have finally shown themself.”
“Oh, took them long enough,” Kayda said. Just then, multiple figures jumped on all the roofs around us.
“Huff finally made it,” Sammy said, jumping in front of me.
“Oh, took you long enough,” I said, extending my hand to rub her head.
“Hmph, like I would let you,” Sammy said, stepping out of my reach.
“Ugh, so mean,” I said with a hurt full expression on.
“Sammy, stop being mean to her,” Wendie said, walking up to us.
“Yo, Wendie long time no see.”
“Hello Nova, can’t really say I am happy to see you.”
“What!? But you just? You guys are so mean.” I said, looking between Wendie and Sammy with a baffled expression.
“Says the one who plants bombs into people.”
“So, I have trust issues. Stop being so sensitive,” I said, shrugging making everyone look at me weirdly.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” Wendie said, waving me off.
“don’t just wave me off,” I said, narrowing my eyes at her.
“So, what should we do with them?” Wendie said, looking at Kayda, ignoring me.
“You have a base?” Kayda said, looking at the 16 tied-up cultists.
“of course.”
“let’s go there.
“Wait, leave 4 of them tide to this,” I said, taking a giant demon rock out of my storage.
“Why?” Kayda asked, confused.
“That bishop won’t stop looking for me, so this will distract him and let me go,” I said, potting the rock down so we could tie the cultist against it.
“That sounds like your problem,” Sammy said, looking at me with a raised eyebrow.
“You are with me, so it’s our problem now,” I said, looking back at her.
“She does have a point.” One of the crimson bandits said, making everyone look at him weirdly.
“Tim shut the fuck up,” Sammy said, snapping at him.
“Sigh, hey Kayda, can you carry me.”
“You tired?” Kayda asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Yeah, the backlash is getting worse.”
“So, it did activate,” Kayda said, walking closer to me.
“Just for a minute or two, luckily.”
“What are you guys talking about,” Sammy said, getting in between Kayda and me.
“Nothing for your ears, Sammy,” I said, pushing her away.
