Splat! [Part 1]
Nearly one hour since entering the borderland Skyteâs forest.
Emma and her friends were steadily making their way to the king.
âT-Thereâs no monsters here, unlike expected, is there?â
Francesca, who had been looking around restlessly and timidly, patted her chest in relief since they hadnât seen even one monster in the forest.
âYou will be alright as long as you stay close to Koumei-san.â
Riding on Koumeiâs back, Emma smiled at Francesca, who was walking beside the cat. Monsters with even a little bit of intelligence would never approach Koumei on their own will.
âEveryone, watch your steps and the road in front of you carefully as you walk.â
No monsters attacked them from the front, but some pounced from behind in an underhanded way several times now. Those monsters were dealt with and sent flying by Koumeiâs tail without a sound as if she was only swatting pesky flies.
Emma softly directed everyoneâs attention to their feet, taking care to not let th haveem see the frightening monsters.
Silence is golden,
ignorance is bliss.
As a result of hunting monsters secretly during the extracurricular lesson, her father had secured a safe path that even young ladies could walk on in the forest to an extent. Because it was a path he had made of his own accord without asking Skyte huntersâ permission, it would be quite troublesome if it were found out.
Everyone from the extracurricular lesson led by the king to depart to the forest earlier all chose the regular path normally used by Skyte hunters, so the one Leonard created shouldnât have been found out.
Emmaâs group was about to reach the end of the current path, which her father and uncle deliberately made to not overlap with the regular path.
âI thought we would already have caught up to Father, Uncle, and my brothers around nowâŚâ
Emma was silently comparing the map of the forest she saw in the extracurricular lesson and the paved road her big brother, George, told her in her mind. But seeing Koumeiâs steps that didnât seem like they would stop any time soon but kept advancing into the forestâs depths made her uneasy.
They had stepped much deeper into the forest than she had expected. If they advanced any more than this, confrontation with monsters would be unavoidable. And hunting with laymen present would be dangerous.
It went without saying that the chance of encountering monsters would increase the closer they got to the barrier located in the forestâs depths.
Even if her father and uncle were here, they were already way passed the place her father tacitly decided to be the point to turn back when hunting with laymen.
Emma could hardly think her father would allow her to proceed any further than this. Something unforeseen might also happen.
Emma had always been said to be the main culprit of every trouble, but she herself frankly thought that her family was no different from other families.
âEven so, I wonder what is the urgent message for the king, Catherine?â
âIâm curious whatâs the urgent message for the king, Caitlyn?â
The twins walking behind Francesca and Marion on either side of Koumei said they were curious while looking at Hue, who was removing the monster traps William set so that the young ladies wouldnât get caught in it.
The urgent news to the king.
No Kingdomâs nobles didnât know that the queen was more well-versed in politics than the king.
