As far as pep talks go it wasn't bad, it wasn't everyday someone told you that being a bad guy was the right way to keep your focus. It was crazy, but it did get the job done. Cole stepped out of the car as his gaze came to fall upon the building in front of him.
It was a school, and strangely enough it was the only building that still standing among everything else that was in this neighborhood. But much more than that was the group of people standing in front of the building, their hands linked together in a protest.
Cole noticed that there were quite a few construction workers standing in front of the school, but most of the community, or at least the ones that still had a bit of innocence in their bodies were the ones standing against the advancement of the construction crew…..most of them were kids anyways. Cole turned to Tehila with a questioning look on his face.
Tehila raised a finger up as her eyes seemingly glazed over. Cole was freaked out by it, it seemed to him like she was here but at the same time she was not. All he was looking at was an empty shell with it's essence missing. A few seconds later Life came back to her eyes as gave him a small nod.
"Sorry about that, I developed a skill that can let me read the history of objects, people, basically anything. I cant read the future yet, but my Psychometry skill is coming along nicely, though most of my stat page is missing. Unlike others I became what I am without having access to the system to do so.
After I joined the event the system has not been functioning as well for me and the others who you made Raens without them having logged on to the system's universe. But it's not all bad, our system will unlock fully when we reach level 100 or the system's universe has fully subsumed ours."
"Why didn't you tell me about this?" Cole asked her in surprise as she shrugged in response.
"It didn't seem all that important at the time Cole, and frankly speaking I like it this way. I rather than just my stats I can feel my skills growing you know, plus you have me doing administrative shit on your behalf, and the skills I have are quite nicely suited for it. Combat is really not my forte that's your thing, so I'm not too bothered by the state of the stat page." Tehila said to him as he nodded back at her, his mind traveling for a second to appreciate just how beautiful she was.
"either way the school is the only facility that's still functioning. A no mans land you could say and the only refuge for the kids within the neighborhood. A few good Samaritans are always trying to help, providing food, shelter, clothing and an education for the children of the town.
Now they are all out here in solidarity along with a few of the petty gangs in the area to stop the renovation of the school as it means they would be kicked out of the place. Plus the gangs are trying to strong arm us in paying for protection or at least the construction crew, or they will go around making trouble, but then again….you own the construction company."
"I have to keep track of everything I own…..how rich am I anyways?" Cole asked, his attention being taken by the fact that he didn't really know how much money he had. He wasn't so bothered about wealth, even though it was an important aspect of the power he was seeking.
"You don't have as much money as I do Cole, I purchased a still viable deuterium asteroid belt for a pittance and have operations up and running. You have a construction company, own a dozen blocks of prime real estate that is literally the size of a large town. Apparently you have an atmospheric base that you have not even visited, and then your territory in the 3rd floor.
You have investments that would make you very wealthy in the future, but right now, I'm a billionaire and you are just stepping your toes into the hundreds of millions category after you invested everything. But then again I didn't account for your sierra corp shares, 10% is a lot...should make you just a wealthy as me if you play your cards right.
But luckily you have me, you should be grateful. By the time the year is over, you'd be as rich as richest man in the universe….well at least our universe, and fairly wealthy in the systems universe too. But that aside…..what do you want to do about the protest happening in front of you? I have to warn you though...bad press wont be good for you at the moment."
Cole scoffed, as if he gave a shit about bad press. And speaking about press he noticed that there was a few of them arranged, watching the protest that was going. There was a massive banner being held up that read [We Wont Surrender Our Homes] it was…..cute.
He marched forwards going past the construction workers until he was in front of the protesting group. Most of them were kids with a few adults here and there giving direction to things. The gangs that Tehila had warned him about were keeping away from the protesting group, but were close enough that they could be a problem and a deterrent to anyone who would try to put a stop to the protest.
Cole ignored them all as he went up the steps leading to the school, most of the protesters were standing on it, and he climbed until he was face to face with the person leading the protest. A girl in her late teens with a baby in her arms. Cole grinned at her, showing her fanged dentures that prompted her to gasp and take a few steps back in fright.
"Well you've got my attention Kid…..now why the fuck are you making a ruckus in front of my property?"
