Chapter 779 - Chapter 779: Geno GagulaChapter 779: Geno Gagula
Editor: Henyee Translations
Ten years ago, Geno Gagula’s name became intertwined with that of a renowned Western rock icon in a scandal that rocked the music world.
Accusations of plagiarism tarnished Gagula’s reputation, falsely portraying him as the perpetrator instead of the victim. From obscurity, he rose to infamy, only to be unjustly framed, imprisoned, and eventually vanished without a trace, leaving behind no remnants of his once promising career.
Meanwhile, the rock legend who allegedly plagiarized Gagula’s work soared to greater heights before meeting a tragic end. Amidst the pinnacle of the music industry, he shocked the world by taking his own life with a bullet, leaving behind a scene shrouded in eerie mystery.
With time, the truth resurfaced, revealing Gagula’s innocence and casting a shadow of condemnation over the deceased rock icon.
As the years passed, the scandal faded into the background, becoming little more than a footnote in music history. Yet, for Jiang Mo, Geno Gagula remained a beacon of inspiration, guiding his journey through the world of rock music.
Gu Yang inquired about Jiang Mo’s final decision, prompting a sense of helplessness in Jiang Mo’s response: “[The troublemaker was apprehended for causing a scene but was subsequently released after receiving a reprimand and some educational guidance. In the end, it was just a bottle of water that was splashed.]”
Once Jiang Mo’s creative well was replenished, he shared his latest musical composition with Gu Yang, extending an invitation for her and Gu Jin to join him in recording the piano accompaniment.
Although Gu Jin wasn’t particularly adept at playing the piano, she wouldn’t turn down an invitation if it came from Gu Yang.
August in the capital was sweltering, with the oppressive heat hitting them as soon as they stepped out of the air-conditioned room. It was only after a light rain at night that the temperature became bearable.
Lately, Gu Yang preferred avoiding daytime outings, opting instead to go to the movies with Gu Jin in the evening.
The film of choice, a crime thriller, exuded an atmosphere as chilling as a horror flick. Interestingly, the original story was penned by none other than Gu Jin, who also went by the pen name Gu Jing. Directed by the renowned filmmaker Shen Zhenjiang, the movie held audiences captive with its suspenseful narrative.
As they sat side by side in the middle of the theater, Gu Yang and Gu Jin remained engrossed in the cinematic experience.
As the movie commenced and the storyline unfolded, the audience grew increasingly absorbed in the narrative. Amidst the tension of the plot, the chatter and rustling of snacks gradually faded into silence.
Just as the movie’s atmosphere began to ease, a sudden, terrifying occurrence jolted the audience. Shocked and caught off guard, many viewers, particularly the girls, emitted startled screams.
Among them, Gu Yang discerned a man’s terrified cry emanating from behind her. It was accompanied by frantic movements of fear.
Compelled by curiosity, Gu Yang turned around.
Seated behind her was a stern-looking Caucasian man, boasting deep blue eyes and sharply defined features. At first glance, he appeared to be a handsome foreigner exuding an air of aloofness.
However, in this moment, his complexion was pallid, his gaze fixed on the movie screen, his expression contorted with fear. He even clutched onto the arm of a young man sporting a black cap beside him, refusing to let go.
It was evident that he, too, was gripped by fear and compelled to witness the unfolding terror onscreen.
The young man noticed Gu Yang’s glance and flashed her a friendly smile, his canine teeth adding a touch of charm to his demeanor. “Sorry about that,” he apologized with a sheepish grin, “my friend here is a bit of a scaredy-cat, especially when it comes to ghosts.”
Gu Yang found their behavior somewhat peculiar, but she shrugged it off and returned her focus to the movie.
As the film progressed, each eerie and supernatural scene prompted not only the white man behind them but also the rest of the audience to emit fearful screams. While Gu Yang herself remained unfazed by the plot, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of apprehension each time the white man’s terrified cries echoed through the theater.
