At first, Dilan didn't understand what happened.
He knew that he had been thrown out of the City of Trials, just to get pulled back in after only a few days had passed inside the City of Trials.
However, the situation inside the City of Trials had changed drastically. As for the explanation, it confused Dilan quite a bit.
"A baby bleeding from its eyes appeared in front of Damian's Godly Fragment. The baby took the Godly fragment, absorbed it, and fused with the fragment within a few days. Afterward, the baby disappeared and you reappeared," The Great Wise summarized in very simple terms.
"So the rightful owner of Damian's Godly Fragment arrived, which means that the baby was Eternal Darkness?" Dilan figured and everyone else nodded their heads.
This confused him quite a bit. "If he is still a baby, doesn't that mean it will be too late by the time he grows up and the Veilures attack…or am I just very early with my preparations?"
If Dilan's guess was not wrong, the Eternal Darkness would have to grow up to a full-fledged adult and become stronger in the meantime. However, because Dilan was inside the City of Trials, he still had thousands of years left before the Eternal Darkness would have reached adulthood, to begin with.
With that in mind, he was pretty sure that he started with the preparations for the Veilures and to become stronger at a very early time, early enough to become strong enough.
"This baby was the Eternal Darkness and he just had his awakening, but it looks like he was reborn. His Origin will probably need quite a while before it will be unsealed…but I'm more interested to find out about his heritage. He looks human but I'm not sure. There is something weird about him," The Destruction Sword Immortal muttered all of a sudden.
He was the Soul Shard who spoke the least because no word left his mouth if it was not truly necessary. This increased the importance of everything he said, and everyone paid attention to it.
"Looks like you are very interested in the Eternal Darkness. Do you want to teach him after he reaches the City of Trials like our friend over there?" The Lightning Titan suddenly asked but the Destruction Sword Immortal shook his head.
"I don't think that the Eternal Darkness will have to come to the City of Trials. His situation seems different because he received Damian's Godly Fragment. I guess Damian's sentience will awaken in the future and he will teach Eternal Darkness…probably," The Destruction Sword Immortal retorted.
The discussion between the Soul Shards continued, while Dilan could only look from one God to the other, all of whom seemed to be very interested in the existence of the Eternal Darkness.
Dilan was not jealous about the attention the fellow chosen one received, but it was more of confusion that spread through his mind.
"Will he be strong enough to face the Veilures, if he doesn't train in the City of Trials?" Dilan wondered, not realizing that he had voiced his question out loud.
"You should hurry up and learn our techniques, otherwise, he will sweep the ground with your intestines when you guys meet up!!" The Queen of Immortality suddenly announced while the other Soul Shards nodded their heads.
'Why does it feel like they're making fun of me?'
"Aren't you guys underestimating me too much?" He grumbled but everyone shook their heads.
"We are not underestimating you, but we know your goals and we can tell that you won't be able to use our techniques properly after you leave the City of Trials. Maybe it won't be a problem for you to comprehend the perfect mastery of our techniques and you might even be able to exert them in perfection in here, but the overall situation outside is different.
That's the first reason for us to believe that the Eternal Darkness is stronger than you!" The Queen of Immortality stated quite bluntly.
"As for the se–..." She wanted to continue further.
But it was the Destruction Sword Immortal, who intercepted, "As for the second reason that makes us believe that the Eternal Darkness is stronger than you…he is far more talented than you are! The Oracle couldn't even give us a proper report about his talent because she cannot see his future potential precisely. This is partially due to the Godly Fragment of the Lord of Darkness, but that's not all because we couldn't tell the extent of his power even when he was a mere baby!"
Dilan grit his teeth to hear the evaluation of the Destruction Sword Immortal, and it made things worse that the human spoke far more at once than ever before.
This just showed how highly the Destruction Sword Immortal regarded the Eternal Darkness' talent!
"Should I be happy that I have such a great companion, or be frustrated about it?" Dilan suddenly thought, swallowing his anger and pride.
Everyone knew that Dilan didn't really intend to save the Universe, per se. His main purpose was to protect his family and it was obvious that he would sacrifice the whole Universe if it was necessary to make sure that his family and everyone he held dearly was fine.
'Did the Universe realize that I'm not the right person for the job, which is why they created a true monster or did baby Eternal Darkness force his way to the City of Trials to get his hands on the Lord of Darkness' Godly Fragment?'
Too many questions churned through Dilan's mind, but the more he thought about it, the better he felt.
The Eternal Darkness was likely to be more than enough to rescue the Universe on his own. And that made him feel relieved rather than upset. His presence might not even be required, meaning that he could focus on getting stronger on his own and making sure that he could attain everything he was working for rather than the things others wanted to force onto him.
Oddly enough, that made him feel much better than before, and the heavy responsibility that had weighed him down without realizing slowly dispersed.
"Don't worry, Dilan. Your strength lies somewhere else than your pure power or lack of talent!" The Lightning Titan laughed and he patted Dilan's back, just to receive a middle finger from his little friend.
"Fuck off…"
The Lightning Titan laughed at Dilan's response. He continued to pat the human's back, ignoring Dilan's glare.
"You just need to learn how to control your powers, get our techniques right and leave this place before you get to practice our techniques all over again, just with a limited amount of mana!" The Great Wise announced.
His words didn't really make Dilan feel better, but he had learned long ago that bickering with them would only make his head hurt.
There was no need to feel embarrassed, let alone humiliated just because the Eternal Darkness was stronger than him. Everyone had a different starting point from birth, and Dilan knew from the beginning that he was far from the perfect individual destined to become the savior of the Universe.
That job was just not suitable for a kind of person like him!
