Chapter 7:
Kail continued, “I’m telling you to be quiet and just leave. Get lost.”
Leave this place?
When Silje looked at him in surprise, Kail slowly waved his hand for her to leave. He looked like a judge ordering an execution.
“Get out!”
That was the third time.
She couldn’t believe what was happening. The cruel king was letting her go for the third time. This wasn’t a coincidence.
Walking out of the now dead-quiet storage, Silje contemplated.
Did he think she wasn’t even worth bullying? Well, at least she was still alive.
Everyone glared at her as she was about to reach the door when Gunhild raised her voice.
“We can’t let her leave like that. I didn’t even get to injure her that much.”
Kail raised his eyebrow in warning, but Gunhild had lost her senses after getting hit by a shoe. Before anyone could even blink, Gunhild reached for Silje and grabbed her by the hair. Silje forced herself not to scream in pain. If she did, it was only going to satisfy her bullies.
She also wanted to make sure that the king knew she wasn’t a weakling. She never wanted him to see her fear. It didn’t make sense that she felt this way, but she couldn’t help it.
Kail stood out among his group. In truth, he would’ve stood out anywhere. She didn’t want to admit it, but he was beautiful. It was only for a few seconds, but when he stared at her intently with his green eyes, it was spellbinding.
He was sat on the leather chair looking like a gorgeous male statue while he watched Gunhild pull on Silje’s hair hard. His face was blank, but when the rest of the group swarmed to attack Silje as well, Kail’s expression changed.
He stood up as if he were annoyed. The group yelled, “Kill her! Don’t let her leave.”
“Crazy b*tch! How dare she!”
When the group became excited and was about to grab Silje, Kail announced coldly, “It’s you guys who are crazy. Attacking one mere girl all at once? How stupid and unnecessary. Why are you guys overreacting?”
He was angry. Or was he just annoyed? Kail looked at his gang in frustration and when his eyes met Silje’s, he walked towards her.
Gunhild tried to explain in a shrill voice, “That b*tch threw her shoes at me! You saw it too right, Kail?”
When the king looked furious at her insolence, Gunhild became flustered.
“But Kail! I had to teach her a lesson.”
“And you had to do it AFTER I let her go? Answer me.”
His low voice was scarier than if he had yelled.
It was clear to Gunhild that she was entering dangerous territory. She visibly started to sweat as she murmured, “N-no! I didn’t mean to do that. Do whatever you want, Kail.”
Gunhild quickly shut her mouth.
Gunhild was one of Silje’s most cruel bullies, yet in front of Kail, she acted like she feared for her life.
Gunhild and the rest of the group backed away without Kail even ordering them to do so out loud. The king didn’t have to say anything.
Meanwhile, Silje was looking for a chance to escape. What was going to happen to her now? She had to get away from here.
Just then, a low voice spoke to her.
A unique baritone. He didn’t talk much, but when he did, it made everyone around him tense.
“You realize you have caused all this trouble, right? Who do you think you are?”
When his sharp eyes looked at her, Silje couldn’t move. It felt like her body was pinned to the floor.
She was mistaken when she thought he looked different today. He was the same old cruel king. His eyes were filled with quiet madness.
The way he looked at her made her freeze.
The quiet king didn’t like anyone. He mostly remained silent like a lone wolf, but anyone could see that inside his cold demeanor, there lay a fiery and volatile beast. It didn’t make sense for a person to be both cold and burning at the same time, but Kail was definitely both.
He slowly opened his mouth.
“I don’t like how a mere girl like you is causing such havoc around me. Who do you think you are? You think you are so important?”
His voice was chilling. When she slowly raised her head, his intense stare studied her. A predator was looking at her with sudden interest. He was watching her like she was an interesting new toy.
Today, Silje was wearing a long black coat and a pair of black leggings. Her long hair was down, and her shoes were also black.
Silje always wore dark monochromatic clothes because she didn’t want to be noticed. Her outfit was nothing exciting, but her leggings showed off her beautiful long legs.
Why was he staring at her like that? Silje wondered curiously.
Why? Why was he studying her? Was something wrong?
Just then, he murmured coldly, “I don’t see anything special about you. I can’t let a stupid girl make so much noise around me. I will have to punish you for your impudence.”
What? A punishment?
Suddenly, Silje jumped as Kail came closer to whisper in her ear. She felt his hot breath as he leaned toward her like a lover. Yet his eyes still looked cold.
“If I let you go now, I will look weak to everyone at school.”
He quickly glanced at his cast and continued, “So I can’t just let you go.”
When Kail made a gesture, his group suddenly approached her and dragged her outside.
It was snowing hard and the temperature was dangerously low. As she got dragged out, Silje couldn’t believe what was happening. It was dark and storming. This felt like a nightmare, but no matter how many times she blinked, she wouldn’t wake up.
This was really happening to her.
Silje couldn’t stop her anger from exploding. As she continued to be dragged, she glared at the leader Kail and screamed, “You people! How can you do this? How can you call yourselves humans and be so sick and twisted?”
Without a word, Kail looked at her blankly. He stood silently in the snow. With his dark hair against the white snow and his unrealistically beautiful green eyes, he continued to look at her.
And finally, he ordered, “Get her into the car and take her to a place far away from here. Preferably somewhere deserted.”
