World Online

Chapter 6 Achievement: Title

Jake forgot one crucial thing. With every fox that he killed, he would grow stronger. With every fox that he killed, it would become easier to kill the others.

Now, he had leveled up, and he had more stats than before.

Swiping his right hand, he was quickly able to check his stats.

The fact that he had a skill did not surprise Jake. He expected this to come onto the panel sooner or later. Because he would be using it quite a lot.

Taking the sword, he went deep into the forest to look for another fox.

........

Hours passed. Jake turned into a killing machine. His inventory was loaded with Fox leathers, and the counter of his mission was slowly approaching completion.

He looked at the last fox that he had to hunt.

All around him, carcasses of its dead companions just lay there.

[Fox is intimidated by the blood of foxes that you have killed. Movement speed has been decreased by 10%]

"Come at me!" Jake smiled.

The fox howled and jumped at Jake. But before it even knew what happened, its head was no longer attached to its body.

[Mission complete. Reward: 2476 exp granted. Approach Sword Master Richard for reward.]

[Title: Fox Hunter unlocked. Once equipped, fox-type monsters will be intimidated and will lose 5% stats.]

Another message arrived. This was something that Jake did not expect. And he welcomed it with open arms. He needed these titles, as they would help him a lot in the future.

"None of this was in the article that he wrote. Why would he lie about this? It was a special mission! Only he can get the benefits, and only once. All of this was not there. The foxes weren't there." Jake thought as he walked slowly back to the tutorial village.

And Jake was not wrong. The article that was published did not have any of this. It was because he did not face any of this.

After no one was able to complete this special mission, it was decided that the requirements had to be loosened a little. And the reward was also loosened a little, unbeknownst to Jake.

He unwittingly trodded on to the sword master.

"You completed this mission as well! And with such speed! Just a few hours! I did not expect you to do this in such little time!" Richard said with shock apparent on his face.

"Do I have anything else to do?" Jake asked.

"Yes. You must rest. For tomorrow, there is something that I want to teach you. But to do that, you need to be in the best state of mind. Go rest." Richard said and he waved his hand.

For a second, Jake thought that he would be force logged out again, but it did not happen. Instead, the sword master was just not looking at him any longer.

[Special Mission Part 2: Rest. Exit the game for at least eight hours. (0/8)]

Black lines appeared on Jake's forehead.

"You have got to be kidding me. They are forcing me now?"

But he couldn't do anything. Swiping his hand, he logged out of the game and appeared back in the real life.

Putting his helmet on the table next to him, he just lay on the bed.

His eyes were still closed, but the eye bags beneath them were as black as ink. It had been a few hours since Jake got some rest.

Even though he was not exactly doing anything physically, since he was in the virtual world, his mind was awake.

He needed rest, and sufficient nutrition to keep his body running. With his family being poor, he could not afford the best virtual pod that would keep the rest levels and the nutrition levels of the body in balance.

Those would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, money that Jake's family could not afford to splurge.

The moment he closed his eyes, his mind shut down. It was too tired and dozed off instantly.

It wasn't until the sun rose up that Jake awoke again. He was awakened not by an alarm, his mother, or anything normal, but by the sound of a fight.

Looking out at the window, he saw that among the smog, his brother was all bloodied up, and in front of him, an adult and his child were standing.

His mind became wide awake, and he rushed outside without hesitation.

"What is happening here? Mr. Kilian. Why is my brother wounded? You realize that the price of bandages of medicine is through the roof." Jake looked at Mr. Kilian with anger.

"Bring your parents here. You are too green horned to talk to me." Mr. Kilian said.

"Where are they?" Even Jake was confused, and he asked his brother, Michael.

"They went into World Online, like you said. They have been inside for the last few hours. But Jason had the audacity to say that mom and dad didn't need to enter the world, and that they needed to come to work." Michael said.

Jake was confused. This did not happen in his previous life.

"The butterfly effect! I did not expect it to hit me so early!"

He then looked at Mr. Kilian.

"And what do you say of this comment? Do you actually want my parents to come to work? When it is martial law that everyone needs to enter World Online?" Jake asked.

"Your parents owe me fifty thousand dollars. They pay me back by working for me. How do you plan on paying this month's share? By playing this game?" Mr. Kilian chuckled.

"The month is not over yet. Once the month is over, you can come collect on your loan. Until then, I think that your son has no reason to mess with my brother. Go inside Michael. The weather isn't that great today, and a few people made it even sourer." Jake went back into the house.
