I quietly kept my gaze fixed on the person seated across from me. In the midday sunlight, his silver hair seemed practically white. His unwavering golden eyes drew me in quietly.
His face was that of an adult who had lost all traces of his youth.
Ijekiel Alpheus.
The man that Jennette loves.
Time passed as the two looked at each other without a word.
After a while, I finally opened my mouth and broke the peaceful atmosphere first.
“Magic items can be harmful if kept on one’s person for too long. Please advise Miss Margarita to keep it away from herself at home.”
I said as I recalled the ring Jennette wore today. I assumed she wore it all the time and that it was used to conceal Jennette’s jewel blue eyes.
Of course not everyone is adversely affected by magical items. Jennette was a rare case because she was born from black magic, but I wasn’t going to say that out loud.
Ijekiel’s brow furrowed slightly at my words before he asked me.
“Are you able to identify the holders of magical items?”
“At least in a very faint sense. I have a feeling.”
After that, Ijekiel remained silent for a while. I continued to stare back into his eyes that peered back into mine.
“There are times when I wonder if you really do know everything.”
My lips drew into a thin smile from his words.
“How could that be possible? Only God knows everything.”
His steady gaze crossed the seemingly tranquil silence between us. After a while, his gentle voice drifted through the yellow sunlight.
“Yes, only God.”

“Oh my, oh my, oh my.”
I discreetly rolled my eyes as I listened to the barrage of ‘oh my’s.
“Then, the dress you’re wearing right now was personally chosen by Lord Ijekiel himself?”
It was a sunny afternoon without a single cloud in the sky. Everyone is lively as usual.
Ijekiel was the one who had the invited girls all worked up during my tea party. I cast a glance over to Jennette, who was the focus of their attention.
“Yes, that’s right.”
When Jennette answered shyly, the young ladies started making a commotion once more.
“Oh my gosh, I’m so envious.”
“Lord Ijekiel must be so attentive.”
“No wonder Miss Margarita’s dress was so pretty today.”

Wow, Jennette. You’re a hot topic today. The reason why this happened was because Jennette accidentally slipped out the words, ‘The dress I’m wearing today was chosen by Ijekiel’.
“When I ask him to come along, he usually does, and we pick out dresses and jewelry together.”
The ladies couldn’t hide their envy at her words.
It was said that dancing with Ijekiel even once at a party was difficult, but hearing that he spends so much time with Jennette that he even helps her pick her clothes made it obvious why the ladies were so envious.
Besides, according to the male-protagonist formula, about nine out of ten people in Obelia must be fond of Ijekiel.
Jennette would have been the common enemy of all women at that point if she had been bragging or speaking sarcastically, but her demeanor was meek.
Her shyness was very fresh and pretty, so she kept a genuine appearance.
“Hmm. Miss Margarita and Lord Ijekiel are like brother and sister, right?”
Even so, it must be difficult not to be jealous of Jennette, who seemed to have all of Ijekiel to herself. One of the young ladies made a sly remark, and the other ladies jumped on the opportunity.
“Come to think of it, Lord Ijekiel and Miss Margarita have shared a mansion for quite some time.”
“Do you still regard him in the same light? If it were me, I’d have a hard time keeping romantic feelings at bay.”
“Besides, Lord Ijekiel isn’t just cool.”
“Also, though it’s rare, Obelia does allow marriage between cousins.”
Still, most of them were honestly curious without malicious intent about Ijekiel and Jennette while trying to find out if there really was no pink air between them.
“That’s…”
I avoided being caught between them as I calmly sipped my tea. Jennette appeared to be in discomfort, so I considered intervening, but such questions could arise again in the future even if I helped now.
In that case, I thought it would be better for Jennette to answer now.
To be honest, I didn’t want to become involved in the first place when it came to Ijekiel and Jennette.
I peered at Jennette’s eyes that were locked in deep thoughts.
“Princess, a wizard has arrived from the Black Tower.”
When Jennette finally opened her lips as if to answer, Ces, who had been standing on one side of the garden had approached and quietly informed me. A wizard came from the Black Tower? What could it be?
“Tell him to come here.”
And with my permission, the wizard of the Black Tower who entered the garden was…
“May the peace of Obelia be with you. I apologize for my unannounced visit, Princess. Pray forgive my manners.”
Oh, it was Lucas! I was perplexed for a moment as I saw the slightly curled black hair in front of me, but soon calmly ordered him to raise his head.
“Ah!”
“Gasp! That person is…!”
“Oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my.”
When the young ladies saw Lucas who had arrived at the garden, each of them blushed or exclaimed. Some of them even pretended not to be interested but still stole a glance at him.

“What is the matter?”
“The Chief has asked me to deliver something to the Princess. I was informed you’d be aware of it because it’s related to the formulas.”
Oh, that’s right! Since Daddy urged me to adjust the magic formula before the harvest festival, I sought the advice of the head Grandpa!
It was hard to see Grandpa since he had been locked away in his research lab with my hair. I’m glad I was able to get his help before it was too late.
“Thank you. My attendant will show you where to place it.”
“I will do that.”
I wasn’t sure if it was data or an experimental instrument, so I put it in an empty room adjacent to mine.
Lucas politely greeted me again before turning around and leaving the garden. But, wow Lucas, there are times that you actually do work in the tower?
He can even run errands! I thought he was just playing around and eating every day but this is unexpected…
“Oh, the lonely black wolf…!”
Oh, come to think of it, you were here too! The dreamy voice from my side startled me, and I turned my head.
With teary eyes, the lily girl stood there, staring at the vacant spot Lucas had left. Surprised, I quickly whipped my head back to where Lucas had been standing.
I sharply whipped my head back to where Lucas was standing, surprised.
Oh, that’s a relief. Lucas is completely out of the garden! Then you didn’t hear her call you that, right? Hey, lily girl, that was close!
“Sir Wizard is so cool!”
“Perhaps it’s because of the wizard’s robe, he usually feels so stoic but when I see the beauty mark below his left eye, my heart starts racing like crazy…”
“I believe in the next two or three years, he may even rival Lord Ijekiel.”
L-Lucas. You are very popular amongst the young ladies.
“Since you’re in the same castle, the Princess must see the wizard often, right?
“Oh no, not at all. He spends practically all of his time in the Black Tower.”
Though he would occasionally come to my room but that was a secret.
“What do you mean, I heard that the wizards of the tower leave the outside world to focus only on their magic research.”
“What do you mean, I heard that the wizards of the tower shut themselves off from the rest of the world to fully concentrate on their magic research?”
“Oh my, what a shame. Then the wizards won’t ever get married?”
“Um, I don’t suppose it’s always like that, but most of them are single.”
Even if the wizards married, could it be considered a proper marriage since they shut themselves up in the tower every day?
Suddenly, the atmosphere around the young ladies grew darker.
Lucas was quickly devalued as ‘a wonderful wizard who we’re looking forward to in two or three years’ time’ to ‘a wonderful wizard who you could not take part of even in two or three years’ time.’

“Ah, as expected that loneliness is Lord Lucas’ fate…!”
Only the lily girl was burning with passion over the lonely destiny.
“Why hasn’t Lord Ijekiel gotten engaged?”
“I agree. I’m already married.”
The girls changed the topic again and now continued to talk about Ijekiel.
“Do you know why, Miss Margarita?”
“Right now Ijekiel is…”
I felt as if Jennette’s gaze had touched me for a moment but it was only for an instant.
“I don’t think he wants to get married yet.”
“Isn’t there someone he likes?”
One of the ladies asked without missing a beat. I felt the ears of the other ladies perk their attention all at the same time and couldn’t help but chuckle at how cute it was.
“There’s no way to know what he is thinking.”
Jennette continued to answer firmly, unlike before when she would only provide a timid response.
“As far as I know, I am the closest person to Ijekiel.”
Like a slowly recited song, her pristine voice floated among the lovely flowers around them.
Her words, though, were a little difficult to interpret. The ladies were tilting their heads and exchanging puzzled looks amongst themselves.
“Come to think of it, someone saw Lord Ijekiel and Miss Margarita outside last week as well.”
“Yes, we went out together.”
“But, I heard that Lord Ijekiel was seen with another woman in a dessert cafe that day?”
As Jennette and I were both about to take a sip from our teacups, our hands froze side by side at that moment.
“She said she had no idea who the lady was, so do you think it was just a rumor?”
Oh, I’m glad. Immediately after meeting Ijekiel that day I had cast cognitive impairment magic as a precaution.
If I hadn’t, rumors would have circulated that ‘Lord Ijekiel was out on a date with a mysterious woman who looked like Princess Athanasia!’ throughout the entire city.
